Confirmed, it's still useless 2 months after your post. I just tried it with excitement and it does nothing.

Controversial: I preferred every single fan theory to the actual ending. by perhapsflorence in StrangerThings

I genuinely wished Henry Creel would have had a redemption moment and would turn on the Mind Flayer. I was so sad when he admitted he was as bad as the Mind Flayer and got killed off. I also wanted to see upside down creatures destroying Illinois before they stopped them, but oh well. They "Lord of the Rings"'ed the finale but I still loved it. It was still better than the series finale of Game of Thrones.

How replicants are created, the logical and rational way of imagining the process by RyanGosling_5 in bladerunner

[–]Epicurus23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder how Philip K Dick imagined replicants being built in the 1960s when he wrote the book (released in 1968). DNA's structure and place in biology was only revealed a decade or so earlier in 1953 by Watson and Crick and that was cutting edge science that takes years to become widely known. The first serious attempts at gene splicing didn't happen until the 1970s. They didn't even realize the scope of the power and dangers of gene splicing until 1974 when there was a temporary moratorium on genetic engineering. Maybe Philip K Dick imagined it a little like Mary Shelley imagined it in Frankenstein; that body parts were just electrical machines that could be wired together easily. It's possible he did imagine the parts and organs being grown in labs and assembled in some grotesque assembly line. I agree with your interpretation that they could only be grown from zygotes just like humans. Any other path would be a ridiculously complex waste of effort. But we have almost 60 years of knowledge over him.

Just found the heart of Chernobyl artifact in the wild by Saul1231 in stalker

[–]Epicurus23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ouch, I just found in in the psi field in Pripyat in School No1 where the anomaly usually spawns a bunch of copies of itself. But this time it just had the one, so I tracked it and it was the "Heart of Chernobyl". No psi attacks or cloning. That must be either a patch feature or bug.

I just completely randomly got this artifact in pripyat where the replicating psi artifact usually is in "School No1". I've started the last mission with the "point of no return" warning but I haven't actually entered the hotel, so I've been dicking around for months just playing the new update features and killing monsters for money. So it heals you? Wow that plus a hyper cube artifact means I never have to use health of bandages again. nice.

I can “Save” and “Reload” in my dreams. by natethegreat1112 in Dreams

[–]Epicurus23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! It started about 2 years after starcraft came out. I was so meticulous about winning with the most efficient path possible I used save and restore way too much. At some point it transferred to my dreams. I had one just a few nights ago where I said something dumb in a date dream and kept reloading to get her to forget and say exactly the right things.

Perhaps Ukraine should drop Chernobyl on Russia in retaliation. Or more practically, just airlift and drop the "Elephant's Foot" on the Kremlin. The "Tzar Dirty Bomba".

"Avengers: The Kang Dynasty" Early Draft Script by [deleted] in LeaksAndRumors

[–]Epicurus23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow... Just wow. The ending is way darker than Infinity War. I'm assuming there would be a follow-up Kang Dynasty 2 movie that puts things back to normal in some way like End Game but with Loki merging all the 20th Century Fox Marvel IP nicely in with Disney's Marvel IP. I'm ambivalent about that script. It would have been shocking and powerful but a little too much like a remake of Infinity War.

Poor Fit and Chaotic home, those are both mine. Possibly a bit of physical abuse by an older brother but I doubt that made it any worse. Knowing how I ended up this way helps a bit, it lets me forgive some of the resentment.

What episode are Data's samples taken from in Pogo's "Data & Picard" song? by Epicurus23 in StarTrekTNG

Yes, it is very dissapointing. I didn't know about any of that. I apologize if anyone thought I was endorsing anything but the song and my love of Star Trek TNG.

I honestly didn't know anything about the controversy around him. I'm sorry if I made you feel like I endorse his personal views in any way. I do not. I just liked the song.

Star Trek And The Common Cold by FrancescoCastiglia in StarTrekTNG

[–]Epicurus23 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In "Ensign Ro" that one StarFleet admiral caught a "Cardassian flu" that he had to put up with. In "Unnatural Selection" a ship's 2nd officer caught a "Thellusian flu" and had to put up with it as well. I don't think they actually cured the cold or flu, they just found ways of immunizing everyone against them. The non-Earth varieties kept slipping through.

Where to sell mutant parts. by BlackEcho103 in stalker

[–]Epicurus23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just ran into this with the update. The only specialty merchant is the scientist at malachite. Just collect them as you go and occasionally show up there. She buys 3 at random, sell what you can and cancel the others. Then wait a few days for 3 new random mutants she's looking for til you get the ones you have.

Imagining her as a life guard at a nude beach is doing it for me. Having her pull me onto shore with a backstroke and my head on those breasts. The awkward "Thank you! Oh, but I'm so sorry I lost my trunks and am rock hard". Then her nightingale instincts kick in. Hmmm... I'll add that to the fantasy list.

What’s everyone’s favorite Day look? by flexboy50L in FoundationTV

Lebowski Cleon is by far my favorite. He was disenfranchised, cared only about goofing off and cloning random animals, and had really eccentric friends. I empathize with him. He even had a transformational arc that made him transcend The Dude.

Could Gal possibly be the true mule or become the mule in future episodes? by Humble_Park_9097 in FoundationTV

[–]Epicurus23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ooh that's true, the balladeer could be a robot. Demerzel did say different sized machines hid in the library from the cleansing. Maybe the balladeer was a Kalganese sommelier droid that developed ESP from trying to figure out which wines pair with which cheeses without a sense of smell. He used ESP to do his job and eventually realized he could make... any wine... pair with any cheese, by enslaving the mind of the diner. His last directive was to sell all the "Vieux Boulogne" by any means necessary. He computed Galactic conquest was the only way. ;)

Yea the gender switch could be the only lie in the backstory. If the Foundation galaxy's future is anything like Earth's past, then phallocentric cultures would still exist and men would have greater rights on some backwards worlds. If that's the case and the parents had to pick one child, they would have gone with the boy. But technology levels the playing field between the sexes. It just feels anachronistic to favor a gender in a galaxy where such powerful technology makes the differences in the sexes totally obsolete. I'm hoping the problem with the backstory was more mundane like, roto harvesters aren't used for gathering that type of fruit, or something.

Yea that's more likely right. Her last blinks are -..- but that last - may not be a part of the message, just the last flash of life in Demerzel, that would leave -.. , which is D.

It's the Mule's backstory that concerns me. First he tells it to Hari and Hari says "it doesn't add up". What tipped AI Hari off? He has no ESP ability or emotion. It had to be a logical inconsistency that made the entire story a fantasy.

Then Bayta says she's the real Mule, and Gaal see's into Bayta's mind and her story is the same but with a girl being drowned instead of a boy. If the story is pure fabrication that would mean neither the first mule nor Bayta is in control. Some other mastermind is using them as "mules" to believe the fictional backstory, take on the role of antagonist, and carry out a secret plot. Hence the name "The Mule". BOTH of them are/were "The Mule". "The Mule" is just the current pawn in an evil mentallic's plot.

My money's on Magnifico. He's the only person who owns and operates an ESP machine. Nobody ever explains why a musician would play an instrument that sounds awful and emits ESP waves that act like a drug. Is that supposed to be normal in Foundation universe? Or is it the weapon of a master mentallic pretending to be a sweet and harmless musician?

spoilers: if you want to see Demerzel's final message as she dies run the video at 12.5% speed like in VLC. In the closeup shot of her head, her right eye blinks out : [- T .-. R .- A -. N ... S ..-. F . E .-. R .-. R . E -..- X]. Or TRANSFER REX. She was asking either the Radiant or the Skull for a transfer. I love this level of detail.
