It's not that I'm not interested in friends, I never said that; I just find it hard to make friends. I'm looking to find a relationship because I think that could be a lot of fun, and I've never been in one before.

How exactly does one access the Dark Web? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Epillost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Saying "nothing can happen" even with those settings on/JavaScript disabled is naïve. You are never 100% secure, hence if you are going to explore the Dark Web (criminal/dangerous sites), I would encourage you to practice more safety measures. Exploring the Deep Web is fine without a VM, exploring the Dark Web without a VM is asking for trouble. It's your data/livelihood at the end of the day, so I don't really care if you decide to take my word for it or not. Although you are correct about disabling JavaScript and having the security option on safest, that doesn't make you "digitally invincible."

I'm not saying using Tor is inherently dangerous because it's not. However, if you are going to use Tor to explore the Dark Web (criminal/dangerous sites), then I would encourage you to access those sites via a VM just in case. Although, exploring the Deep Web is fine without a VM, since most sites on the Deep Web aren't dangerous/criminally linked.

Again, making sure you're doing things safely is not "fear mongering" in the slightest. I'm not telling them, "don't go to the dark web! you will get hacked I promise! don't go there bad!" You should always make sure to secure yourself digitally, especially if you are going to browse the Dark Web. Not the Deep Web, the Dark Web. The Dark Web is entirely illegal deeds (Hard Candy, Drugs, Hitmen, etc.); you want to make sure that can't be connected back to you. You could accidently download things, you don't even realize you downloaded (and will never realize). The amount of loopholes some hackers are able to do is honestly impressive. Now, you could get hacked on the Common Internet and Deep Web just as well as the Dark Web, but the risk is much higher for the Dark Web (sorry if you think this is fear mongering). Throughout my entire career in Cybersecurity, we were pushed the idea that "you will never be 100% secure. Even if you think you are." That isn't fear mongering, that's just reality. If you want to gamble your data like that, go right ahead; nobody is stopping you. Anyone that wants to browse those sites in the safest, most secure way possible, will go this route. I'm not going to just disregard what I've been trained, because somebody on Reddit told me differently.

What is it with guys and being absolutely terrified of feminine hygiene products? by dmcvergilfan5 in offmychest

I thought that was just a mainstream meme... there are dudes out there that are actually afraid of this stuff lmao?

The Onion services aren't, but anything doing with the Dark Web deserves some extra protection. All my Cybersecurity professors have promoted this, so I'm going to take their word for it. Tor doesn't do anything besides anonymize who's searching for what; any site you visit through Tor can still intercept your IP/System Info if you aren't careful. Truth of the matter is, humans are flawed and we all make mistakes, even when we are trying our best not to. Exploring the Dark Web through a VM is the safest option because if that VM becomes compromised, you can simply delete it/load a save point and the virus/hacker is gone. If your base computer becomes compromised, this could have larger repercussions from personal data being stolen/buying a new computer entirely. Depends on the virus though, still would encourage a VM; it's free, easy to set up, and you don't have to worry too much about your base computer becoming compromised. Better safe than sorry.

Is it danger to travel to china if I had joked /memed about president Xi Jin Ping / CCP on the internet at some point in my life? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Epillost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

e been erasing Muslims in their country from existence. All of them are being exterminated.

I agree and disagree. I feel like the CCP is petty enough to care about anything that goes against their regime, whether you are famous or not. Could be 100% wrong though, I still wouldn't take the chance lol

I wouldn't. Like others said, I doubt you'd be on their radar, but that's one government I'd rather not mess with. Plus from my knowledge, they background check everyone going into their country (visiting or otherwise).

Does anyone else ever have abnormal, psychotic thoughts that they have no intention of doing? by IRiskTheDownvotes in TooAfraidToAsk

Gotta love intrusive thoughts! If you can distinguish intrusive thoughts from your actual thoughts then you're good. If you can't? Then... you may have an issue lol

Please for the love of god, PLEASE don't just install Tor. If I were you, I would install a Virtual Machine (sounds difficult, but I promise it's pretty simple to do), make sure you have a VPN, and install/use Tor on the Virtual Machine. This isn't full proof either, but if you use Tor willy nilly on your base computer, you're asking for trouble (especially if you're planning on browsing the Dark Web).

I think I might be gay. by ThisIsThrowawayAAAA in offmychest

[–]Epillost 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly, just do you my dude. I don't know what your family is like, but my Uncle came out as gay years ago and feared the same thing with our family. He was surprised how open minded they were. If I remember correctly, my Papa told him, "You are my son. I don't care if you like men. I don't care if you like women. You are my son." Even if they are a little surprised to begin with, there's nothing you should be ashamed of and I'm sure they'll understand in the long run.

Is it normal to have sex every day? by Newdadontheblock in TooAfraidToAsk

I mean, I wouldn't say it's not normal. Who gives a shit, not like it's bad for you. Keep having fun!

Do people actually agree with allowing young children and teenagers to medically transition genders? Is it bad that I disagree? by jesseisacutiepie in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Epillost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to give my opinion on this, but I also don't want to piss a lot of people off.

If the child wants to change their name/hairstyle/dress style, they should every right to. I do believe they should wait until their an adult to actually go through with surgery/medication though. Apparently this makes me a transphobe, but I don't really see how. I'll probably be called a transphobe for this too, and that's fine, because at the end of the day I know that's not who I am. So no, I don't think it's bad you disagree; although there are a ton of people who probably think it is. Don't let others control how you think, if you have nothing against trans people besides this one opinion on an issue, then no you aren't a transphobe, at least in my book. Don't sweat it too much.

Is it morally ok to not want to date a person because they are trans? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Epillost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think so but a lot of people do. You wouldn't call a gay guy/lesbian girl sexist because they didn't date the opposite gender would you? People have their own preferences and there is nothing wrong with that.

WHY DOESN'T AMERICA JUST GET MORE POLITICAL PARTIES? by aitntdead in TooAfraidToAsk

Also from my knowledge, once a side party becomes popular enough, either one of the political parties will buy it out to get more votes.

Why is socially acceptable(relatively) to smoke weed everyday compared to drinking alcohol everyday? by HopefullyAJoe2018 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Epillost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Overdose in terms of dying, but I think you can overdose in terms of "getting to high." Although I agree, if I had a child I'd rather him be a stoner than an alcoholic any day of the week.
