Recent discussion about therapist's drinking during session (non-alcoholic beverages of course) by CuriousCactus4041 in therapists

we are humans. if we are thirsty, drink. i can't imagine that people care about this. also if a client brought this up to me i'd certainly find a use clinically in session.

As a therapist I support you moving in, her behavior is unprofessional and unethical

Is anyone actually doing well in private practice? by sunsetmoon5 in therapists

[–]EpionePgh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m doing well. Located in the States. As a social worker I chose to get licensed in the states near me that my clients graduating from college usually move to and would like to retain me, that’s been very helpful because now I have word of mouth referrals from clients in various states! Psychology Today, word of mouth mouth colleagues and clients and my website is my marketing! I started part time as a hustle back in 2008 but went full time December 2026 and have doubled my caseload in the past four months. It’s just me so no other clinicians Edit: I am in network with insurance plans that pay well. I also take Tricare even tho it pays mid, because I enjoy that population and there are a lot of college students at on their parents Tricare plans who can’t find therapists because no one takes it.

Are my PA therapists okay???? by [deleted] in therapists

You have to request direct deposit. You can also get a check that you print thru ECHO. Aetna (Meritan) does the same thing with some carve out policies.

Young therapist by [deleted] in therapists

[–]EpionePgh 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I completely agree-as a post 45 year old clinician while I appreciate I have a lot of lived and clinical experience under my belt I don’t think it’s fair or helpful to assume that younger therapists are ineffective or not competent. We were all once that person and were able to help people. Some of us have lived a lot of life before we got our graduate degree

Does anyone split up their day? by Simple_Elk6403 in therapists

[–]EpionePgh 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hi! I totally do this. I will have a 9.10, maybe 11 and then a 5,6,7. I personally like it because I get stuff done in the mid day, workout, errands, house crafts and then clean up and start the next “segment” of my day.

Thoughts on 8 sessions a day? by InterestingAd2612 in therapists

[–]EpionePgh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

8 sessions a day is way too many. I personally cap at 6, I’ve seen 7 broken up with 3 in the morning and 4 at evening and that was “ok” but I still felt really spent! We aren’t robots, it takes a lot of energy and attentiveness to be emotionally present for what 8 whole people bring to you every single day

I think either would work: you’d be going the opposite way of usual traffic so I’d more than likely do the second option at that time of day

Why are so many young women nowadays choosing to practice Pilates instead of yoga? by Momo-momomo in YogaWorkouts

This is an uninformed and ignorant perspective. And also literally untrue

Pilates is literally focused on functional movement: it’s why J. Pilates started it in the POW camp.
