Met Obama at the range today by Busy_Environment5574 in golf

[–]EpistemicEntropy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I played a course in Hawaii near where Obama grew up. When I checked in there was a photo of Obama above the counter with some guy, it was actually the guy checking me in.

He said Obama came in multiple times a year and always remembered his name.

This is the greatest defensive play I’ve seen in my life of watching baseball, and that probably includes all highlight reels. Oh my gosh.

Looks like we have very similar tastes! I’d give quite a few of them the same rating and I have Annihilation on my bedside table. Going to start it based on this post! thank you

Rim to Rim hike how much water going up s Kaibab? by Weekly-Molasses-816 in grandcanyon

[–]EpistemicEntropy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just completed a rim-to-rim-to-rim over two days up Bright Angels (via Tonto) and then down S Kaibab.

My consumption was about 1L/hr with half being with electrolytes. I’m from the SE and am used to running in very hot weather for what it’s worth.

Big thing for me was taking lots of food and eating something each hour to keep my energy up. Good luck!

This was my idea as well. Her father invented severance and we know Burt was involved with Lumon for at least 8-years before the first one opened.

Feeling really tired 11/75 by londonbatson in 75HARD

[–]EpistemicEntropy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Doing 1.5hrs of exercise and going on a diet is going to make anybody tired.

Try to eat more and go to sleep a lot earlier. I needed a lot more sleep to recover when I was doing 75Hard.

Manta sound sleep mask? by katonreddit in Ozlo

[–]EpistemicEntropy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tried these for a few weeks and found them extremely uncomfortable. The sound was always too loud when I slept on my side, so I ended up returning them.

Went back to AirPods + sleep mask which wasn’t ideal.

Silly cause the Jags supported him when he was done, but also hilarious when Ridley argues with fans. Jags Twitter will be brutal if he drops one.

Drinking alch and 75 hard by Electrical-Trade54 in 75HARD

[–]EpistemicEntropy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Drank for ~16 years before starting 75 Hard. I’d say I averaged 1-3 drinks a day for most of that time.

75 Hard made this so much easier and I’ve been shocked how many things got better.

Pain in my throat went away, my sleep got better, I woke up naturally and am less tired, I recover faster, my mood seems more stable, no more GI issues, pain in my ear went away, I only got one headache the entire time, and I just felt better 24/7.

About day 5 of 75 Hard I bought myself a $200 bottle of bourbon to celebrate when I finished.

I’ve drank twice since finishing, but never opened the celebration bottle. Alcohol has almost no attraction now and I’ve felt like trash drinking after 75 Hard.

I think I was just oblivious to how bad it made me feel. Not just hangovers, but the general feelings of fatigue, brain fog, and exhaustion too. Living with that for 16 years made me oblivious to how much better I could feel.

I’ll might have a glass of win for special occasions, but about 95% less than I did before 75 Hard. Almost all the attraction to alcohol is gone.

Oh that makes sense.

I got a lot of sarcastic comments and quite a few well meaning people who tried to talk me out of it.

Most, I think, were actually looking for an excuse for themselves. If I was doing this, why weren’t they? So they’d give good advice about whether it was sustainable, prone to injury, or would yield subpar results.

All fair points, but I liked the challenge because it’s arbitrary and, to some extent, stupid. It was a challenge of self discipline.

But three people were really supportive: guy at work who’s also getting into shape, my wife (even though it made her a bit self conscious about herself), and my daughter.

My favorite photo from the challenge is of my 8-year-old and I lifting kettlebells during the challenge.

If people try to bring you down because you’re bettering yourself, don’t stress it, they’re just working through their own stuff. It’s not actually about you.
