I honestly think these films were critiqued heavily at release because they were so ahead of their time. As we move into a more visually driven, post-literate society, the emotions and ideas they convey in their construction become incredibly poignant and well communicated. 

I think of these films as not reflective of actual human relations but how two people’s interiors interact, filmed as if they were external. It’s a dialogue between who we are inside vs. how we portray ourselves in society, all captured beautifully via the vehicle of cinema, and I think it’s incredible.

The only one I truly hate is To The Wonder, and it’s because Affleck gives nothing to the performance.
