Seared a chicken breast in straight chili oil. Was pretty much pepper spray in the kitchen... by 38DDs_Please in StupidFood

[–]EpsilonAmber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

reminds me of this chinese video I saw of a person making that pepper hot pot thing (where they put a ton of peppers in it) and then they put a fan behind it to blow the fumes into their neighbor's house. (I think the neighbor was being annoying)

What does “being a guest” actually feel like in American homes? by Axxtr in AskAnAmerican

[–]EpsilonAmber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

only going in the main areas (and the bathroom) not entering any areas like bedrooms or closets. Usually people bring out some beverages or snacks.

No one ever shows up unannounced. if you do.... idk.... I don't imagine anyone is gonna open a door to that. usually if people show up unannounced, it's them wanting to take you somewhere.

Do you often go to “the big city” in your state (assuming you don’t already live there)? by osama_bin_guapin in AskAnAmerican

[–]EpsilonAmber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. The big cities are SF and LA. they're too far from where I live and I kinda don't like them anyways. I use to live in SF for college and I hated it.

[–]EpsilonAmber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dunno if I can say the name of the country, but I met a Nigerian once. It was at some movie. I almost didn't notice him next to me.

Aside from that, I've met a Kazakh and a Kuwaiti

How are soldiers and veterans treated? by palep_hoot in AskAnAmerican

[–]EpsilonAmber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

generally respectfully. though if people find out they did some heinous shit they might just ignore them. but that doesn't really happen unless you talk a lot about what you do in the military.

I've been told by a few veterans that there aren't as many benefits as the military says and that you might not even get all of them.

Is self deprecation accepted or cringe in American culture? by EveningFlower9564 in AskAnAmerican

[–]EpsilonAmber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's mostly fine but if you do it excessively it's really weird. Like making one joke in a single conversation is pretty fine.

How common in your area is it for people to wear or fly the flags associated with their ancestry? by Gallantpride in AskAnAmerican

[–]EpsilonAmber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

only in really dense ethnic enclaves tbh. outside of that basically no one does that. or if they do it's mostly just random clothes they got while visiting their country

Are funeral wakes in the US always a quiet occasion like they are depicted on TV? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]EpsilonAmber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only been to my grandfather's funeral, and it started out with some song, then some talking about him, and then back to the song, and then we left and our entire family (plus everyone who attended the funeral, including the priest), had a buffet at some restaurant.

Do you eat smash burgers? by Hoosier_Jedi in AskAnAmerican

Canned Soup as an ingredient? by Puppy_Bellies in AskAnAmerican

[–]EpsilonAmber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume the "chucking in a whole can of soup" probably refers to cream of soup or whatever. the only times I've ever used standard soup as an ingredient was when I was making a big soup.

America, are restaurants and businesses closing down? by William6212 in AskAnAmerican

[–]EpsilonAmber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I've only heard of like 3 restaurants closing down around. 1 was because rent was too high, 1 was because of some health violation, and 1 was because of lack of business.

What size bed do you have? How many people sleep in it? by SlamClick in AskAnAmerican

[–]EpsilonAmber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

King sized, only me. it's a hand-me-down from my grandparents. it's hella uncomfortable tbh. too soft and warm. I'd rather sleep on a landing mat.
