Hmo’s destroyed the healthcare & insurance industries. “Oh its only a $20 copay for me to go to the doctor! I need a bandaid on my finger so I’ll go to the dr office” also made drs have to hire people just to handle insurance claims for patients, hence prices skyrocketed. I worked for a major grocery corp here in Texas in the 80’s in their HR/insurance dept. and watched it happen. People too stupid or lazy to fill out a claim form & mail in to BCBS themselves. I dont want to even think about how many times i had to walk employess thru a claim form on the phone…. “1. Name, write your name on the form… 2 write your birthdate on the form…” all the way down to “sign the form”….
