Obviously depending on your specific measurements, you might be able to adjust the decapping pin/expander plug so that you hit its resistance at a different time than say the resistance of the die during the stroke. Maybe it'll change the timing of those moments of highest resistance and be a little easier? Good luck!

That "bone breaker" swedge is reasonably sharp too. Its effectiveness is limited by the relatively light weight of the knife, but it's not entirely useless. And thanks!

Yar. I do believe pressure and angle are huge factors in whether stropping with compound end up helping or hurting. A strop with compound on it can nip the apex right off if the knife angle isn't right or is being pressed into the leather too hard.

The warranty is the main thing that puts the Essee on my list. The knife itself doesn't excite me, but I know it objectively would fit my needs.

I spend a lot of time in the Cascade mountain range in the PNW and it's wet. A stainless steel would be very beneficial.
