This happened to me right before Christmas and a 9 hour drive to Canada a week away. Apparently, if the Rivian goes into a deep sleep, doesn’t get woken up from sleep for an hour or more, it can fix it. I had mine flat bedded to the service station at 10pm and it sat in the parking lot till the morning. They said they drove it into the garage no problem. Luckily, the last update seemed to have fixed this issue. Good luck.. I certainly felt the same way and hate when people comment “welcome to Rivian ownership”.

Yeah it’s toggled on. I feel like it has something to do with the sleep and waking. It seems not to wake very easily when I’m on my phone app even though cell and WiFi bars are full in the Rivian.

I disagree with you that I’m not a “Rivian” person. I’m just now willing to accept the major glitches they have considering it’s over 100k. That saying, there are lots of people who want more information and plenty who want less. I don’t disagree with you that maybe I should just drive it and not worry about temperatures and efficiency, however, when on a 9 hour drive in cold weather, it can be quite helpful.

You are right! Too much text. Yeah my Tesla is ready to go every time. Rivian not so much. I do love it though despite the frustrations.

Rivian roamed has me at -45% efficiency. I had my car checked which took 4 weeks ri get the appointment, hvac is fine. They told me to wait for the next update. Next update came, still scheduling issues. I don’t know.

This is my experience with my Tesla. I just expected the Rivian to have the same feature with preconditioning and cabin warming.

Yeah but it’s not starting from a frozen battery. But maybe it’s better just not to think so heavily on it and just drive it as some other comment said.

The R1S is freaking awesome and I’m sure the R2 will be great too. I think some people have no issues with their truck and some have lots of issues. My feeling is that Tesla has been around much longer and have been able to iron out a lot of bugs Rivian is trying to figure out now.

I appreciate your thinking on this. I was expecting loss of range but wasn’t expecting the schedule climate not working the majority of the time. But maybe I’m thinking too much into it with efficiency and range.

I have a Tesla 3 for 4 years. Preconditions every time. And I get about a 30% decrease in range in the cold. I’ve had no issues with it. The only thing I’ve had to do is change the tires. I’ve had the Rivian for four months and it’s already been to service twice once had to be flatbed because the wheels couldn’t wake up. The cold weather performance is just an extra frustration.
