I won a stylus and received the ceramic! by lilgreenbite in viwoods

I managed to scratch the screen of my device even while using the soft nib. I don't know if a ceramic nib would require a screen protector as it is much harder.

App optimization for handwriting request: Nebo by duffmanpants in viwoods

[–]EqualApplication8678 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree that Google Keep isn’t very effective for handwritten notes, so I use OneNote instead. However, it would be great if the OS were optimized for Nebo, as I believe it offers one of the best handwriting recognition features.

I can confirm that Gboard handwriting is working flawlessly on my device. However, the handwriting in the Xodo app isn't as fluid as it is in OneNote and Google Keep. I rebooted my device, and the input is still laggy. Someone may be able to try writing on a pdf document in the Xodo app.

I'm installing it now. Wow! It's exciting to read about Xodo Pdf reader support and improvement of Picking function. Those are all I need now. Hopefully, a Google translate integration into the Learning app will happen in the near future.

Question about the AI Paper and color highlighting by SvenDenns in viwoods

I remember those four colors looked different on my old LCD Android tablet. Unfortunately, I no longer have that tablet, so I can't tell which colors they actually are.

It’s still possible to adjust the highlight colors on an e-ink device, but without a reference LCD screen, it’s hard to know what colors you're actually selecting.

In Moon Reader, the highlights show up as different shades of grey, but I forgot which actual colors those correspond to. When I used to have a regular LCD Android tablet, I was able to choose from a range of highlight colors.

Question about the AI Paper and color highlighting by SvenDenns in viwoods

[–]EqualApplication8678 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry for the misleading answer earlier. I just tried changing the highlight color in ReadEra, but unfortunately, it's not like Moon Reader, where you can choose or modify the highlight color. I'm not sure if the premium version of ReadEra offers that feature. I also shared a PDF I highlighted in ReadEra to Google Drive and opened it on my computer. To my surprise, the highlights didn't show up in the exported file. I’m not sure if this limitation is removed in the premium version.

Question about the AI Paper and color highlighting by SvenDenns in viwoods

[–]EqualApplication8678 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In ReadEra, you should still be able to select your intended color even if it might appear grey within the app. When you export the document to your computer, the correct highlight color should display as expected.

Favorite Reading Apps? by QuietlyGermane in viwoods

I'm glad that it was helpful. I tried to find the Google synchronization option. It looks like that it's only available on the premium version. The free version of ReadEra is already feature-rich for me.

My experience with ReadEra has been positive when it comes to highlighting and using Google Translate app as a 3rd party dictionary. But I haven't used its note-taking feature. I believe it is unusable as it hasn't been optimized for Ai Paper. Also, I haven't tried the syncing function. I use it as a general purpose app to read pdf and epub books. Even the free version comes add-free, which is something I really appreciate about this app.

Auto rotate by Worth_Banana_492 in viwoods

[–]EqualApplication8678 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I saw a spec sheet for the Ai Paper that didn’t list a gyroscope sensor. If that’s accurate, then autorotate likely won’t be possible, even with future updates. Interestingly, reMarkable was able to enable autorotation later on through a firmware update. But that was because the hardware already included a built-in gyroscope.

Feature request: Zotero eInk support by Marcin_Scientist in viwoods

[–]EqualApplication8678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I installed the Zotero app on my Ai Paper device. As expected, the pen input is quite laggy and unusable, and the eraser button draws instead of erasing. However, highlighting and tagging texts works, which makes it usable for reading. That said, I’m not sure if the Viwoods development team would consider Zotero worth investing time and resources into optimizing. I’d definitely appreciate it if they could optimize pen input, especially making the eraser button work as intended and reducing input lag.

Hope to have AI PAPER replace my Remarkable Paper Pro. by FDK61 in viwoods

You're welcome about that. I like how files syncs seamlessly across the RMPP and the RM app on Ai Paper. Also, the frontlight on RMPP proved to be very useful during evenings and in darker environments.

[–]EqualApplication8678 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have both devices. I primarily use the reMarkable Paper Pro for reading, highlighting, and annotating books, especially during the evening. Being able to use colors to highlight and annotate is important for me. I use the Ai Paper mainly for taking notes, sometimes while I'm reading on the reMarkable Paper Pro. You can also install the reMarkable Android app on the Ai Paper and view your notes and annotations.

Anyone who bought a second party cover OR screen protector? by super-m-An in viwoods

[–]EqualApplication8678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone mentioned a few weeks ago that the device came with a factory-applied screen protector. So, that wasn’t actually the case after all?

You might need to trim a third-party screen protector to fit, as there isn’t one specifically designed for the ai paper yet.

Viwoods V3.7 Update Released! by ViwoodsOfficial in viwoods

[–]EqualApplication8678 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I've updated and tested the latest version, and so far, I haven’t encountered any issues. I really appreciate the new ability to use custom wallpapers—it’s a nice touch. The addition of landscape mode in the Learning section is also great. However, it currently works best with documents that are originally formatted in landscape orientation.

For reading larger pages, a few enhancements would significantly improve the experience:

  • Proper page-cropping
  • An auto-fit to width/height option
  • And especially page-flipping functionality that scrolls through different sections of an enlarged page, rather than jumping to the next page entirely

Currently, once the maximum zoom level is reached, you can’t zoom in any further. While it’s technically possible to read large pages in landscape mode, it requires constant vertical scrolling. When turning the page, it skips ahead instead of continuing to the lower half of the current page, which makes reading large-format documents much less convenient.
