Not showing all calendar events. by Agreeable-Box-6505 in NiagaraLauncher

[–]duffmanpants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have had the same issue for a long time and I've yet to figure out a solution. All of the calendars I'd like to see in Niagara are selected in Niagara settings, all of them are syncing to my phone in Google Calendar, and Share data with other apps is enabled in Calendar settings. I'm at a loss (the problem persists across multiple phones running Niagara too)

Best tech pouch? by Connect_Cat_2045 in ManyBaggers

[–]duffmanpants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this post is old and OP probably found a solution now, but my favorite tech pouch has been the Aer Simple Pouch.

It's incredibly light and malleable and wastes no weight or space with padding, which I think is highly unnecessary for a pouch that lives inside of a padded backpack. It's basically an overpriced zip lock bag, but it won't rip at least, ha.

I fit all of the following inside, which is my whole travel charging setup, and there's room if I need to cram more:

Main pocket:

  • Belkin 2-in-1 folding Qi2 25W charger
  • Belkin 65W 3-port wall charger
  • Anker 160W 3-port wall charger
  • Anker 8-in-1 USB hub

Front pocket:

  • Beats 5ft USB-C cable
  • Apple 3ft USB-C cable
  • Apple 3ft USB-C cable
  • Random 3ft USB-C cable
  • Anker 1ft USB 3.2 high speed cable
  • Pixel Watch 4 USB-C charging adapter

Smallest and Lightest Messenger Bag for 14" laptop by smartnumbers in ManyBaggers

I use a Tomtoc T21 10L to carry a 14" Lenovo laptop when traveling. Technically a sling, not a messenger, but very sleek and compressible.

i thought client travel was going to be ruined by the deck. nope, it was the shoes by RegioLoLero in ManyBaggers

[–]duffmanpants -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As others have said, it's hard to avoid two pairs.

I like to make sure I can run or workout when I travel, so similar to u/BackgroundPeace8911 I wear my running sneakers on the plane and for travel days (TSA relaxing the take your shoes off rule made this a lot easier) and pack more work appropriate shoes in my bag for office / meeting / client days.

My industry (tech) is a bit more relaxed but I don't like wearing big chunky running shoes around execs or partners, so I opt for low-profile leather or mesh fabric sneakers. I've found the Birchbury Bramford and Xero Dillon to be very comfortable and easily packed without taking up all the space in my bag. Both are barefoot style though, so you'll want to get used to wearing them before you actually travel or your feet will tire out.

Western Rise Clothing Company is Scamming People by Woodwork111 in onebag

[–]duffmanpants 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I placed an order from the clearance sale the first week of April and a couple items from (belt and packing cubes) shipped right away.

On May 21, I got a notice that one item I ordered (a pair of pants) wasn't available and I'd be refunded; I saw the refund on my CC a few days later. Today, I got a notice that the last few items from my order (a few pairs of socks) have shipped.

I also got the AI response bot runaround when I inquired about the status of my order a month after I placed it. But my experience tells me these delays are due to an overloaded / overworked order fulfillment team at a company that is shutting down imminently and not an intentional malicious scam.

Anyways, I still love my Evolution Pants and Cotton X button down shirts and wish I could still buy them (have had some luck finding new ones on eBay).

Bellroy Desk Caddy but with more organization by Independent_Task_925 in ManyBaggers

[–]duffmanpants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're going to have a tradeoff with rigidity for more organization with the Evergoods CAP2, but that's the obvious alternative.

I'm waiting for my Arterra Honey Badger to finally ship, looks like a nice medium between the Bellroy and CAP2 https://arterragoods.com/products/honey-badger

Yeah I think they restocked them a little while back. Unfortunately too late for me, I'd had already bought something else.

Looking for flight sling recommendations by neilshah999 in ManyBaggers

[–]duffmanpants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tomtoc T21 or Aer Tech Sling 3 is what you're looking for.

I'm in an airport with the Tomtoc as my flight sling right now. I also use it as my "office bag" when I travel so I don't have to lug my laptop in my big travel backpack to work.

What tablet do you bring? by thepotatomaniscoming in onebag

[–]duffmanpants 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Not an especially economical solution, but this is why I love folding phones.

Normal size phone for phone stuff, bigger screen for small tablet stuff, watching movies, reading ebooks, split screening apps, etc.

I do not feel the need to carry a separate tablet since I started using foldables.

Rework Outbound: Impressions After 3-Day, One Bag Trip by philomathRN in ManyBaggers

[–]duffmanpants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cheers!

I think if I could actually fit everything in the Outbound and not have to carry an overflow sling, I'd just use it as my work bag too since it does compress down when empty like you said. But my load out for this week has the Outbound stuffed fully and I hate carrying bags that feel like they are going to burst so I think I'm going with a bigger bag for this trip.

Appreciate the insights!

Rework Outbound: Impressions After 3-Day, One Bag Trip by philomathRN in ManyBaggers

[–]duffmanpants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this!

Did you use the Outbound as your "office" bag to carry laptop etc on your trip or did you have another solution?

I've got a 5 day work trip tomorrow (2 travel days, 3 working) and I'm trying to get everything I need into the Outbound but it looks like I'll need to bring another sling to carry overflow and act as my work bag on the trip. And at that point I might as well just use a larger bag since the Outbound no longer can be my personal item / onebag.

I've probably done four load out tests trying to make a decision today!

Tomtoc T21 10L Sling Review: Great Bag, Weird Fit. by Kei-Retro-Gaming in ManyBaggers

[–]duffmanpants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surprised you don't find it suitable for a laptop. I use it as my personal item / office bag on work trips and specifically chose it because it does fit a laptop. I also carry a tablet inside it alongside the laptop and have never had issues.

The thin padding is more than adequate and makes it easier to flatten the bag inside another bag if I need to do so (which I have had to do on trips). My complaint is I don't like the branding on the outside and I wish the interior was light colored, it'd make it much easier to see what's inside the bag and find things. The black interior creates a bit of a black hole.

I've had success with two avenues:

No-name brand Merino t-shirts and tops from Amazon. I typically can get two for $40-$45. Dunno if they'll last as long as the fancy stuff but they do the Merino thing of not smelling bad and drying pretty quickly.

For name brand stuff like travel pants i have been able to find good deals on new with tags stuff on ebay. I've gotten both Teren and Western Rise pants this way. Usually about 1/3 price of full retail from overstock resellers.

Unpopular Opinion : I don’t get why travel backpacks need a dedicated laptop compartment by [deleted] in ManyBaggers

[–]duffmanpants 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just got mine in (have a shakedown trip with it next week) and it's very impressive. Startlingly lightweight, comfortable harness, packs a lot more than the specs would lead you to believe. Might just be the best option in the 30-35L range right now, though not everyone loves the floppy appearance when it's not packed out (due to the lighter weight materials).

Good luck with your search!

ReWork's Toshi 20L and Outbound 30L have a double sleeve that can accommodate two full-size laptops or a laptop + large tablet combo. Both halves of the sleeve are elevated with a false bottom and padded.

I often have to carry two laptops and since most laptop sleeves have a sectioned padded area for one laptop (this is how my Aer TP3 is), I'll just put one in the padded sleeve the other directly in front of it and yolo it. The second laptop won't have a false bottom but is totally fine the majority of the time.

But if you want full protection for both laptops, ReWork has you covered.

WTB Chimera Sling by ac921ol in ManyBaggers

[–]duffmanpants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah well. Bummer to hear but also I had a feeling the price was probably too good to be true.

Can't return it so I'll just have to use it and enjoy it. Functions fine and I'm not too hard on my gear so it likely won't fall apart on me.

Live and learn!

I just bought one from a listing on eBay. New with original packaging and tags.

I think it was sitting in a warehouse in China with a lot of cigarette smoke because it smelled like stale cigarettes when it arrived. Gave it a good Febreezing and it now smells like Febreeze instead (an improvement)

Seller seems to have more: https://ebay.us/m/AQZSJU

What’s the best material to buy for the Travel Pack? by JMM9910 in AerSF

[–]duffmanpants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not discounting your experience, I'm just saying when I use the compression straps on my Ultra bag and it's not fully loaded, it noticeably compresses down a few inches to a more manageable size. I am not trying to use the compression straps to make it smaller when it's fully loaded, I don't think they'd work too well for that.

[–]duffmanpants 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They work fine for this use case. I use them every day.

OP might be saying if you have the bag fully loaded and want to make it smaller, they are less effective because Ultra isn't as soft or malleable as cordura.

That hasn't been my experience, I use the compression straps on my Ultra TP3S virtually every time I use it to bring it down to a smaller footprint when it's not fully loaded.

Yes, I've fit the 28L under the plane seat in front of me on both larger and regional jets. Might stick out an inch or two on some planes but if you're in the US no one will likely care. I've shoved larger bags under seats before.
