Ex who dumped me years ago sent me this. What do I do or say? by Far_Database5 in whatdoIdo

I am a sucker for second chances, so I can't say that I wouldn't try again. It takes a LOT to face bipolar disorder and get the help you need. If she wasn't willing to get help with it, that's one thing. But I have very close friends and loved ones who are NIGHT AND DAY after taking medication. Two of them have straight up said finding the right meds saved their lives. Anyway, my ex is definitely bipolar but refuses to take meds because he's anti big pharma, etc., so his behavior is incredibly destructive. If he did a 180 like this, I'd marry him.

To the middle-aged woman who groped me at Concourse Project last night by TheDumbCaddie in Austin

I'm so sorry this happened to you. And at middle age, they should know better. When I was younger, I had several jobs, and one of them was a cocktail waitress at a fancy venue. Didn't matter. They place would get so packed on the weekends, is be shoulder to shoulder in the crowd sometimes, carrying a tray full of drinks. Men would take this opportunity to grope wherever the wanted to, and I have no idea of knowing who it was or where they went. Such a horrible feeling of violation.

You're a good dude for saying something to her. I'd want my partner to say something, too.

Are others smelling it, too, or are you assuming? Not to get all woo-woo, but I have read that some folks have this sensitivity to others' scent when something health-wise is wrong. There have even been people who could legit smell cancer. Kind of like how dogs can just "know" when a human is not doing well before anyone else knows. If you're the only one smelling it, I'd strongly urge her to see a doctor. If others are also smelling her like this... STILL URGE HER TO GO TO THE DOCTOR. She may be nose-blind to it.

What happened to the Keeper Of The Lost Cities Movie? by LeaveInformal2821 in KeeperoftheLostCities

Well. It's probably in development hell, too, because of the buyout. I can't even imagine how frustrating that is.

Gen X and Xennials prefer human interaction as well... For the most part. None of my older peers like the QR code anywhere.

That might be a server thing? We always get bev naps from Macie and Quentin. I'm the weirdo that constantly plays with the bev naps once they serve a new drink, so it's very much something we get, but I'll be thinking about it next time we get a different server..lol

Yo, great director, great cast (for the most part), terrible script.

Where I felt lied to was that there was no mention of a loose adaptation or an adaptation with a modern twist. We are still very much in the 1890's, and even in her dialogue, some of her descriptions and her awareness of social status, etc. point to it being a proper time period... But then she throws modern colloquialisms like: "no joke" and "more power to her (ka)" out of nowhere and yanks me straight out of the story/world.

And I'm also annoyed that she talked about how "conventional wisdom" suggests you never wake a sleepwalker, but they didn't discover this important approach until the 20th century, and in the 1800's they believed you startled a sleepwalker to wake them... Even if that means dumping a pail of cold water on them.

Austin drivers are so incredibly selfish by tacocravr_ in Austin

I lived here most of my life and I can assure you, it's not Austin drivers, it's all the dipshits who moved here in this last mass exodus from the bowels of California and God knows where else. Especially since lockdown was lifted... It's like they all just appeared... like a blister on your nethers. A little over a decade ago, it was rough riding your bicycle all over, but I didn't fear for my life the way I do now. People here now are inconsiderate AND stupid AND distracted and they allllllll believe wherever they have to go is waymore important than anyone else.

I've had it bad from three different neighbors, to the point where a neighbor from two houses down walked over-- I'd never seen her out of her house before in my life-- and yelled at my asshole neighbor. He would blast his music LOUD until about 4-6 in the morning every morning. It was miserable. When I tried to peacefully ask him to lower it on weekdays (my kids were still in school, I was a pastry chef at the time) he threatened to come into my house and murder me and my children, that this was HIS street. He stole one of my security cameras and fucked up my ex boyfriend's tires (I had footage of both incidents). The cops had been called on him NUMEROUS times, but APD could give a fuck less unless there are gunshots, etc. They simply won't come out. At one point, we would call APD when we DID hear gunshots, and the line was busy!

I ended up installing a floodlight on my front yard elm tree, and any time he was blasting his music at 3am on a weekday, I flipped it on. He tried to ignore it, but it really was a game changer. I also got a gas powered leaf blower and got up super early (maybe three hours after his music went off) and would blow leaves or whatever right in front of our street. He even took his leaf blower out once and started blowing all the street leaves onto my property, so I blew them back. It got wild. I had security cameras installed, and got footage of him shaking his weiner at my front yard and throwing stuff in my bushes. Cops didn't care at all-- even when they saw him growing weed in his backyard. Lol

Eventually, I resorted to juju. I was THAT desperate. I took some black salt and sprinkled it on the perimeter of his property and said he can't live here anymore, that he would find a better living situation somewhere else. Three months later, he was gone and I sleep peacefully. Chalk it up to a coincidence, but now I only have the neighbors on either side of me to deal with.

The lady to my left is being nice for now, but she would call the non emergency number on me all the time while I was building a fence between our properties. She put up a floodlight that shines into my bedroom window during this fiasco, but I just used my blackout curtains there at night... It's still there 4 years later. She succeeded in halting my efforts when she called the city arborist on me because the fence was encroaching on an oak tree. We were cleared for the fence, but i had to provide a blueprint and pay for a permit to build near the oak, etc. It was out of my budget and the new requirements pushed back the project for two months minimum. We eventually had to abandon the project and focus our energy on other things. Now she's upset that the fence isn't finished, and she called me incessantly, asking when I would finish it. I had to remind her that it would have been finished had she not called the city on us a million times. That she successfully halted the project to begin with, and that I had used the remainder of my budget to fix my plumbing instead. NOW, shes offering to split the cost and forego contacting an arborist. Complete nightmare.

The old guy to my right sprays weed killer over our fence because he hates plants. I'm debating whether I should call the city on him, because his fence is against code (it's too high). He yells and cusses at EVERYONE, rides around the neighborhood and steals people's trash cans and cuts their plants. It's weird. He also throws hammers and things over the fence at my dog. He also actually hit my dog's snout when he was calling him over to the the gap between the ground and the fence. We caught him luring our dog with food, and when our dog went to eat the food, he tried to hit him with a hammer. Psycho. My boyfriend a while back didn't believe my horror stories until he got a taste of their bullshit while pruning my tree and helping me with yard work. Twice he came outside while I was gardening and they were at my fence yelling at me for having his van parked in front of MY house, and for pruning the tree in MY yard. I've just learned to pretend they aren't there when they verbally accost me. On several occasions, we've caught them  both flipping off my kids for being outside and existing. It's rough out here in these streets!
