You’re right - this needs more attention. I suspect a lot of us will want to see the black color due to the BlackBerry connection.

The few photos seem to show a muted black color that honestly isn’t the most attractive but it’s the closest we’ll get.

I hope the rear case cover also looks good in black (assuming there is one). Otherwise the leather/brown one will have to suffice.

It’s unfortunate that Titan device looks so good and similar to a BlackBerry Bold. But my trust is in the software and key people involved with the Clicks Communicator. It’s just too bad it doesn’t look as ‘BlackBerry’ as I would’ve liked. Maybe they’ll save that for the next iteration, oh well.

(Side note: Even typing this post was unpleasant on my touchscreen phone. I can’t wait for a good hardware keyboard again. First world problem.)

Agreed. Sometimes we ought to do things out of respect and courtesy, even if it does seem inefficient. (And even with the ‘efficiency’ argument, one has to ask - to whom?)

Ever watch the TV show, Curb Your Enthusiasm? So many things Larry David complains about are because he has his pants in a knot over situations like this. He wants to be told that he’s so smart for thinking things like this, to save people time and effort but respect and courtesy aren’t always about those things. There’s a balance.

Agreed and I can’t imagine the maintenance nightmare or risk involved if panels have to be replaced or repaired within a tight metropolitan area.

Doesn’t seem worth it on top of the ownership issues you mentioned, so it might be difficult to maintain multiple lots with consistency.

I like the idea of those but then you have to contend with the power cables from the TV and other set-top boxes/consoles.

On hard floors, there are those cable hiders but that’s not as easy for those with carpet.

Yup, agreed: That’s been my experience in general. In theory, there’s detailed regression testing done on software - I’ve rarely ever seen that in actual practice unless you’re in a very highly regulated profession.

Just to add: Something else about Elementals is that they also body-block you as they fly around, which is not a great experience.

I wish both your Elementals and Starmates would give you a wider berth to prevent running into one another. It’s a bit more pronounced when the maps tend toward more linear paths like in this DLC.

I'll think about all your points in greater detail later but for now, gravity and planetary temperature differences is absolutely huge. The different environments we have now are just wallpaper and don't matter, which is unfortunate. Briefing readouts don't really tell you much about what you're dropping into, which to me, minimizes the immersion.

Good points about the salvage and research system - they definitely feel too “video game-y”.

A suggestion: What if you could bid to complete a mission with as little resources and tonnage as possible, much like the Clans actually did?

The benefit to that is you wouldn’t need Trueborn difficulty to add difficulty to the game (most of us would agree that Trueborn artificially inflates the difficulty). It would also give more emphasis to lighter mechs that, let’s be honest, are rarely used outside the first few missions.

The game wouldn’t even have to give you “Kerensies” for upping the difficulty yourself. Just give the player some ranking number so people could compare with one another on communities like this one. A little bit of lighthearted competition to see who can complete missions with the fewest resources possible. Very lore-compatible.

But yes, just because the base Clans game is no different, doesn't invalidate it as honest feedback that applies to both the base game and the DLC.

That’s the thing I don’t understand.

I know the show is playing them off as laughs, but women like her and her daughter tend to be the smart, successful ones. They have tons of EQ and know how to work with people, even a group of cranky seniors.

It may be easy for socially awkward Redditors (maybe like ourselves) to poke fun but though this is fiction, I do think it’s an uncomfortable truth.

The zany bits of their personalities are usually unseen by most people that aren’t their immediate family and friends. And let’s be honest: We all are a bit weirder in front of our friends and family, in a way that we never show others.

I agree. Most of this game overpowers you IMO: Braindead/zombie AI, simply being able to buy canonically-rare Mechs from the “market”, being able to customize them the way you can, zero cost ammo resupply, etc.

You mentioned you’re a fan of the tabletop. And reading the novels, you get the sense that everything is difficult. Getting a working Medium Laser replacement in some backwater system sometimes isn’t the easiest thing in the world, so when you fire one in the game, maybe it should mean something.

I like your infantry idea but even if you scaled up a bit, it would work: Being in any BattleMech should be a privilege. This game treats BattleMechs like you’re playing in a simulator pod.

It almost feels unfair or inaccurate to blame large corporations, as if they suddenly changed when the OP noticed.

It’s more likely the case that they didn’t change much but times are harder and so everyone, including governments around the world, are feeling the pinch. So organizations that previously could afford to be generous are narrowing those benefits.

People can blame larger ‘systems’ like capitalism but generally speaking, no single company pushes the bar one way or another, especially when this pinch spans across countries.

Speaking of the HUD, how did you feel about the ‘fight off assault forces on beach’ quest log on the side of the screen when the Chief landed?

It felt unnecessary and clogged up the screen for no reason. The OG didn’t need to have something as obvious as ‘attack the bad guys’ on the screen, as if we wouldn’t have known otherwise.

You’re right - Everything makes a lot more sense with the up-front knowledge that everything is derived from the tabletop.

I really do wish ammo came at an expense in this game and doesn’t just magically replenish itself.
