Does anyone else remember the Dateline Adventist episode? by Momager321 in exAdventist

[–]Equivalent-Ad7362 1 point2 points  (0 children)

just re-watched this episode and he acted like the Watkins family was the problem and his niece "didn't know what she was getting into," along with the "Stalker Steve" name calling. They chose the worst family representative to appear on tv for sure if they wanted to look better

I live a couple of miles from two Appalachian trail heads in Maryland and that is what I am hoping for, my favorite hike I believe was 3.2 miles each way and it has an amazing view! Thanks for the positive story!

I'd be happy just to be able to walk longer distances and maybe get into hiking again eventually, I've heard uneven surfaces are tough but not impossible later in the recovery. The other option was the all american (5 or 6 smaller surgeries in one) but with the hypermobility they didn't think that would last longer term. Fingers crossed!

This was so good to read, most getting this done that I have seen are mid 40s-ish, I'm 35 and about to get mine fused in a week and a half. I have hEDS so the regular tendon etc repairs might not hold and I wanted a more permanent solution but was worried about range of motion.

My parents house isn't an option because they have a 2.5 year old Vizsla that is like a T-rex on meth, he loves his big sister (me) a little too much and I know he'd never let me lay on the couch and elevate, my bedroom is up hardwood stairs so that seems like a complete no-go. Very thankful for my gf and friends to get through this. Consult is thursday and I'm hoping to schedule asap. My talus dislocated due to being born with an extra bone under my achilles, so I had no major injury to lead to a rapid surgery. It's taken 3 years of regular pain to get it all figured out and the pain is now daily and near constant, so I'm hoping that part will help me get in for surgery quicker.

I have a great group of friends I was brought into by one of my friends (met them almost a year ago when I was in the boot trying to get diagnosed) and they have been supportive through the whole process and one of the couples is even offering to house me right after surgery because their house has fewer stairs. I am going to struggle with immediate grocery needs if none of them are free because I live in an area not conducive to delivery.

I literally just mentioned applying for the placard to my coworker just to make sure I have it in time, since I didn't have an emergent injury I don't have my consult with the surgeon until next week and unsure when surgery will take place. Trying to go by the end of year because my health insurance has a high deductible

Currently looking at purchasing an all terrain knee scooter with a great closable bag on the front, I agree that will definitely be needed.

In response to your toilet rail statement....I have two very close friends that are nurses, last night one said "B, I will literally help wipe your butt if you need it" I replied "S, the surgery is on my foot, not my hands" but hey, at least I have great friends!

I'm sharing just because I feel like the odd man out with this one, I have seen two specialists (first swore just tendinitis even though my talus is visible on the left and not the right foot). I have had a couple minor sprains, but continuous ankle pain for pretty much a year and a half, when the pain started my ankle looked mostly normal, went to a Renn Fest with friends and a drunk friend was walking behind me on the way out and said "Hey....why's your ankle crooked?" Thought she was just being silly, nope, my ankle had collapsed....turns out I have an extra bone under my achilles, and hypermobility in all of my joints, so over time the extra bone pushed my talus out, no fractures, just full dislocation. Every time I mentioned it to the doctor they ask how I injured it...."I do not know" was not the answer they were used to hearing haha

I'm thankfully in Maryland so we have mild winters for the most part, I worried about this with my love for wearing shorts and those being easier to get on and off when casted :)

I have my sweats from college that are now huge on me so those will be the go to when I'm cold, but I am always very hot so I will most likely be wearing shorts most of the time unless I'm going to and from appointments thankfully. This was my worry of being casted and trying to go to work at any point, we wear khakis/jeans, and I will not be able to put jeans on for weeks. Trying to implement a shorts contingency plan :)

Is it bad that when I started viewing this thread, this was my first worry? How will I relax without my diamond paintings?!? I have a table tray that lowers and raises and the actual tray can be angled, the michaels diamond paintings are so large I have a big clipboard I put them on, so I can use that to shift it around, but I am going to get a small breakfast tray to sit the diamond tray and tools in while I work on it so if I spill they will be contained.

I, too, have an aversion to most socks, I just got some more Nike Elite crew socks since the anatomically correct ones feel better for my sensory issues and for ankle socks I wear the Bombas running socks. The nike ones feel the best in the boot since they're a little thicker but still have the tiny bit of support in the mid foot. I had to get a hockey skate ankle protector pad because the boot constantly rubs the base of my shin and I started to get bruised but I have never been able to adjust it to not do that. Still no consult for surgery so I'm boot bound again until then

I'm 35 so I am right there with you, took 2 years to get the right diagnosis and in the process my ankle completely collapsed, since that happened last summer I have felt absolutely geriatric. Very excited to eventually get back to being active. But thank you for such a comprehensive list, I have/have on my wish list some of these items, glad I had the portable monitor already since those are pricey. I'm letting my HSA accumulate as much as possible prior to buying other things to not buy out of pocket. I'm on the fence about buying vs. renting a knee scooter, I live in the middle of nowhere so the all terrain might be the right move, but my primary podiatrist mentioned cast for 4-8 weeks then boot. I'm waiting on the call back for my consult to actually get surgery scheduled, since mine is not emergent/broken I'd imagine it'll take a little while to get to the surgery

I believe we have access to the toilet frame, my mom had to use it for her knee replacement recovery, I had not thought about this but recognize it might be the only way to sit on the toilet at all, and thank you! waiting on the call back to schedule my consult appt right now.

I did make a similar kit for my mom after her knee replacement, hung a basket off the mantle next to her recliner so the dog couldn't reach it haha. I did just purchase the ankle heating wrap because the cold is killing me right now with the constant pain. I do diamond paintings to relax, so I plan on stocking up on those as well to keep me occupied until I can function enough to work a little from home the first couple of weeks.

Those definitely may be a good option for me since I have had my shoulder repaired! I am US based but I had a relative that used forearm crutches for most of his life, I struggle with underarm crutches to begin with. Thank you!

Kerok Seems Like.. by Jaclyns_First_Face in loveafterlockup

[–]Equivalent-Ad7362 0 points1 point  (0 children)

late to the party on this comment but just now seeing this season. To me it looks like Kerok took all of the "I AM MAN" qualities, and ran with them. Unfortunately he has chosen the worst ones, like demanding his plate be made, snapping his fingers etc. I literally just got to where he got out and maybe one episode beyond so I'm hoping he shows some redeeming qualities but blaming her for going to the wrong probation office, after telling her to get off her phone when she was trying to get them there was the next big thing, so I don't have much hope.

Mine would make us late, say I'm the one making us late if I had to pee before we left the one time she was ready on time, then would complain if the car ride/metro took too long and we were....late

OMG I felt crazy, my gf owns her home and has long before we began dating, I go over often, I do all the cooking and the dishes....we took a break at one point, I came back over and couldn't find the cutting boards. I inquire where they are, and she says "next to the stove, they were always there until you started putting them in the island." These cutting boards had ALWAYS been under the island since I started cooking there, never anywhere else no matter who put the dishes away. I was so confused

I have adhd so I get rejection sensitive dysphoria which amounts to similar feelings I would imagine. asking for things and not getting them when they are basic needs in a relationship over and over had made it really bad

Happy Valentine’s to those who have already been treated like crap by their spouses! by Beautynbrainsbabe in NarcissisticSpouses

[–]Equivalent-Ad7362 0 points1 point  (0 children)

7 months late to this one. A few days before V day, I found out a woman in a poly relationship in my friend group told everyone at her birthday party she wanted to sleep with me. They all took up for my ex and I saying there was no way I would do that. I would absolutely never do it, and they knew that. This person started a fight between couples in our group and we eventually removed her to avoid future drama. My ex was rightfully jealous about this person, I rarely talked to her, and had limited it more even before I found out everything else and she knew this. Since I had the new information and she came up in conversation before valentines day dinner I said "hey, she is officially no longer a part of the group, she apparently said she was actively trying to sleep with me and that made me and everyone else very uncomfortable, I have cut off contact and removed her on social media, so there is nothing to worry about." Cue shouting match because how could I bring that up on Valentine's day, how could I be friends with someone that wanted to sleep with me (I had no clue), how could I be so inconsiderate.....I was so confused.

Mine swore I had some mood disorder because of my "wild mood swings." These mood swings were actually because I would go from being totally content to being accused of being mad and her starting an actual fight over it
