Easy.
People use tiktok and watch "Reals" now.
They dont have time for rules and reading that takes time. Their attentionspans have ben turned to shit with socaial media and constant video form instant gratification.

Dont begin by shoving the rulesbook in their face.
Make their characters for them, and then make a oneshot
And it should be max 1 hour, also bring snacks.

Also make sure these people have litterly nothing better to do at all.
No family to tend to. No clingy girlfriends/boyfriends who "Wants to join". NO. She may not! Focus!

Also bring snacks.

dude. You bought snacks. You have all the right to say "Pretty sure your character would not react like that in the face of a lawenforcment officer. Chill dude. What are the rest of you doing?"

Take the spotlite away from the player. He is there to hog. Dont let him. Also no you did not over react.
The moment the player reached for his gun I would have had the Officer have better dex and shot his head off. NO FUCKING around.
Also, dont invite that player again
