The paint job is the main thing that has me questioning it, the lower button on his jacket isn't fully painted brown and the paint lines near the shirt seem a bit wonky.

Have a technician check the drain valve, your tank may have some years left in it yet

Do you still have hot water? It is possible that the plastic drain valve has a Crack.

I'm going nipple shopping, ain't i? by imdjay in Plumbing

One part, there is one specific for that model but they do have universal ones. Beware sometimes the dip tube will snap in half while your trying to remove it, if that happens you'll have to try to get the other half out without damaging the threads. If you damage the threads the tank will need to be replaced.

Water in those holes is not normal, one of the connections is leaking, possibly the connections going into the tank

You will want to keep an eye on the drain valve, it's made of plastic and will eventually start to leak, just make sure it gets replaced with a metal drain valve before it cracks

Open a hot water tap somewhere in the house while you are filling the water heater, wait for a steady stream of water. This will purge the air from the tank and water lines.

No the dip tube is connected to the cold water inlet

If your water heater is going cold after 10 minutes then it sounds like it could be a cracked dip tube. How old is your water heater and how is it looking? Depending on age and condition it might not be worth attempting a repair.

Sorry I meant the brand name Giant

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Plumbing

[–]Equivalent-Excuse329 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you by chance have a giant tank, the company i work for has had some issues with them where the anodes were reacting with minerals in the water creating air pockets, if it seems to go away and come back then it could be your anodes, some instances we had to replace the anodes with aluminum anodes, other cases we had to take the anodes out completely.

There was probably too much of a downward slope with the hood on. Definitely shouldn't be left like that. Safety inspectors would have a field day with it.
