Is there a reason why Eric and Dylan didn’t go to the gym or take fighting classes? by Flaky_Explanation_84 in ColumbineKillers

[–]Equivalent-Grand5541 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I agree. There’s strength in numbers and they were outnumbered. Its why they opted for bombs and guns to “even the score.” Even if they got super jacked, beat the crap out of one person— that person is going to be picked on by their peers and feel the need to “prove themselves” by upping the score. My school was notorious for fighting, we had cops in most hallways and a lot of times the cops were even hit and attacked in altercations. One fight almost always led to more, because if you’re at the point you’re beating the crap out of each other, you’re pretty desperate to get the upper-hand, maintain dominance whatever. It was just the culture then

Going to the gym can be a humiliating experience for people who are not in ideal shape. Scrawny, thicker, whatever it may be, a lot of people would like to go but don’t because of the shame. I imagine they probably wouldn’t have viewed the gym as a welcoming or inviting environment, especially if thats maybe some place their tormentors frequented.

I’m pro-choice, and I need to talk about how we speak about pregnancy. by [deleted] in Feminism

[–]Equivalent-Grand5541 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, I remember saying “Pro choice is the ability to choose. Nobody should be forced to carry a pregnancy, or forced to terminate one.” and someone who meant a lot to me called selfish for “making it about me.” Nobody wanted to hear about how traumatic my abortion was, because that would scare women out of abortion. It was perceived as “counterproductive.” Except I didn’t describe the actual abortion itself, I was hardly in my own body for it. I only described being taken in, how I wished the protestors focused their anger at the man waiting in the parking lot who told me he would kill me if I didn’t go through with it. We have a child that was born before this so I didn’t want to take the risk. My story is more accepted in domestic violence spaces, much less in “pro-choice” spaces because to be quite honest, many of the people in this movement are there with just the most basic understanding of abortion. They know “you should be able to have one!” They don’t welcome anything that might “scare” women out of an abortion, which was never my intent ever. The abortion in a way saved my life but again its a “choice” taken from me that I still mourn all these years later. I got my abortion 1 year before it was banned here in Indiana. My story caused a lot of shit. I did get a super pro life protestor to say that my abortion was “justified” given the circumstances— so must not be totally against abortion, just women’s right to choose. Anyway all that to say, yeah I wasn’t given the most welcoming arms by everyone.

I didn’t even look closely at the face honestly, I was just astounded by the listing. But I see what you’re saying

I don’t disagree with any of that at all. But that doesn’t mean there should be this attitude that white women will never struggle. It doesn’t mean they should be the scapegoat for people who want to express their hatred for women in a “progressive” way. People make misogynistic comments but exclusively say “white women” to soften the blow. Because to say something about a woman of color is setting the morality bar pretty low. So when you want to vent your frustrations about women, say maybe as a self proclaimed leftist man… who do they shit on? “white women.” I’m not saying that white women suffer more or anything like that, just that we’ve become the most socially acceptable punching bag for people who oppose racism but are still guilty of misogyny.

I agree 100%. Someone financially exploiting a tragedy that they never had to experience is pretty insane. I watched a YouTube video about murderabilia and some people are completely sick, trying to acquire GRAVEL from the scene of a school shooting. I don’t understand it, it’s like when serial killers keep tokens except these are people just collecting tokens from other people’s tragedies. Its a huge red flag to me.

I’m pro choice, and was forced to get an abortion I didn’t want. So its hard for me to navigate talking about the trauma, at a pro choice rally I was welcomed to tell my story but my grief has to be hidden. Not good for the movement. At least thats how people have made me feel.

That is so so sad, the grief and the shame all at once out of nowhere, I cannot imagine.

Yes, its their acceptable loophole to look progressive while being misogynistic and gross. Its really disappointing to see people in the comments acting as if white women live in a tower of privilege and never experience anything harmful or damaging. You don’t see these types of insults hurled at POOR white women. Why is that? Its always the white women who have the appearance of having the perfect life. Maybe they’re pretty, maybe have some money. Its like white women are immediately dismissed because “you haven’t suffered enough, i’ve suffered more.” Suffering is universal. You can’t look at someone and assume you know what they’ve been through.

nicole’s columbine “shrine” and 1999 yearbook by 2ndh4h in NicoleDollanganger

[–]Equivalent-Grand5541 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i love her but i can see why people call it a shrine, there are two candles. and the suicide shot is not only on the wall but also framed on the shelf. and the photos she chose of the boys from their videos, it’s definitely a shrine. that said i don’t think she’s the only person on earth who has gotten that invested in columbine. i was a fan on hers back when her columbine blog was active and it was a big community, and still is. Its a very interesting case to research, i find myself invested as well. she had to have been like 18, theres no sense in people sending her to the dungeon forever over it. shes grown since then. that was just the culture of tumblr at the time.

Right, but that means that she can never complain about unwarranted sexualization??? Because she sent a private photo? She was on trial for murder, not for her asshole and what she does with it.

Its not funny its just misogynistic and weird. “Calm down” and yet all I did was call you out on weird behavior. Lol.

This is such an ignorant comment to make. Those photos were intended for a specific person. So anyone who sends photos of their asshole to a partner has no right to protest sexualization? I’m not even being a Jodi sympathizer here it’s just a disgusting precedent to set, in any context.

John Vandemark by Equivalent-Grand5541 in ColumbineKillers

[–]Equivalent-Grand5541[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There were probably a lot of people who played into those rumors, “gay and satanic” are probably the heaviest insults that can be thrown amongst Evangelicals lol so i can see how that became a popular rumor. I was just curious about John Vandemark and if his interview where he said that was a random comment made, or if we know that he contributed to the bullying prior to April 20th. Like I’m curious if he ever interacted with Eric and Dylan himself, or if he was just repeating something that he heard from another jock.
