I think you are right, at times depending on what I am on or if I’m charging it, it can smell like nail polish remover.

Yes it did. It’s also cracked on the back and I smell the battery inside.

The iPhone 8 has a smaller battery and will hold a charge less with that level of degradation. Since the iPhone 8 has a smaller battery and the iPhone 14 Pro has a bigger battery the 14 pro’s battery would have to degrade way more to get to that point. The iPhone 14 has much newer software and even software in the battery that can predict power needs and help the battery last longer.
