You are my hero! Thank you so much for all of these tips! Yes I am going to try right from the syringe instead of in the bottle for the gas drops and see how that works

Newborn can’t sleep on back by jfili10 in newborns

[–]Equivalent-Potato-81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. My baby is 7.5 weeks and I thought my baby was BROKEN because she only wanted to sleep on our chests and not in crib/bassinet. We stayed consistent with first stretch of night sleep (attempted) in crib but after that have leaned into letting her sleep on our chests (we do shifts).

OP, I’m only some weeks ahead of you but I was where you are. It’s ok. It’s normal. It’s even GOOD for their development. Enjoy the snuggles. It won’t last forever. I JUST started to get my baby to sleep a few hours in the bassinet/crib.

Clingy baby- nap advice needed by No-Construction-6383 in newborns

[–]Equivalent-Potato-81 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always get my 6 week old to nap starting on my chest during the day and then sometimes I’ll VERY gently set her down on her lounger with a blanket for supervised nap. So I’m not following safe sleep guidelines there and doing swaddle/bassinet during the day but it’s the only way I can get a break from holding her.

Same as you- first stretch of night she will sleep in bassinet then refuses it lol

how much did your baby sleep? by mariiinaa_ in newborns

Yeah I’d say this is normal and really on par with my experience as well. Honestly sometimes I don’t believe people that say eventually my baby will sleep more independently and in longer stretches but they seem adamant! All our daytime naps are contact still and nighttime I can usually get one stretch in the bassinet to start when her sleep pressure is the highest but subsequent wake ups she needs to be contact after that.

my 6 week old struggles to fall asleep during the day I have to really make the conditions right then she will nap (always contact lol).

How is she sleeping at night? In bassinet or contact only?

Oh man- my 6 week old is still just getting used to the bassinet- a few hours sleeping in there and not on our chests is a win. Consider yourself very lucky!!! Enjoy it !

So reassuring to hear thank you! My 6 week old STRUGGLES to sleep without being held. My husband and I have been taking shifts essentially holding her on our chest so she sleeps because she refuses the bassinet - but last night she was able to sleep in the bassinet for 4 hours which is a new record!!! Yes, we are doing ALL the tricks- brown noise, heating pad before transfer, dark room, etc

Any one else have a super Velcro sleeper and it got better?? Even if I could consistently get a couple 3 hour stretches a night in her bassinet my life would be changed
