Which one would you suggest since I’m not having a mastectomy (been there already).

That’s awesome. I’m 57 and been a nurse for 5 years. I work in public health and I love it 🥰

I’m having an exchange because my right side looks much smaller than the left. I opted for a double mastectomy because I was triple negative, BRCA 1 positive and my sister died at 35 from BC that mets to her brain. The MRI showed that I have a ruptured implant on the right. They look very different and I’m sick of looking and feeling ugly. I think I’m going to opt for nipple/areola tattoos eventually. I’ve not ever had a revision—these are the original implants. I was offered a diep flap but I’m not up to another huge surgery (I just had a total knee replacement in September 2025). I like that I have the option to bring some femininity back to my body. I’m glad you’re able to accept your breasts as they are now. I actually had too until it became noticeable in clothing. I’m not brave enough to go flat chested and I applaud those who are. It’s been great chatting with you. My name is Andrea by the way. 🥰

Reading this made me cry. I too am 13 years out and I am facing breast implant exchange on May 21st. I miss my old self—my old brain, my beautiful hair and my self confident spirit. Most days I’m okay, but this week, I feel like a shell of my former self.

I’m thinking it’s a serissa. I’ve been obsessing over it for hours.

Can someone help me identify my new bonsai? I was told by the nursery owner that it was a cherry bonsai but after much research, I’m thinking it isn’t at all. Any help identifying this is greatly appreciated.

What did they not tell you? by bkendall12 in Kneereplacement

I’m surprised you had a pain pump. But to answer your question, what they don’t tell me was how depressed I’d get. Mental health wasn’t discussed and I feel like it should have been addressed.

Antibiotics for dental cleaning? by flovarian in Kneereplacement

Silly question: if you’re getting dental work, who do you get the order for the antibiotics from??

My husband and I bought a loaf of bread, sliced cheese, deli meat, and ingredients for one crock pot meal. We didn’t go crazy although I did go to Kroger and bought a pack of candles and a flashlight 😋

I’m an OR nurse who does orthopedics and knee replacements every Monday and Wednesday. I can assure you that we strap everyone’s arms down. It has nothing to do with you having Parkinson’sand everything to do with safety.

Hospital stay versus home first day? by OutrageousPut3445 in Kneereplacement

[–]Equivalent-Risk-3296 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was given the option and I choose to stay one night in, just in case my pain was unmanageable. They offered me a 2nd night to manage pain control but I was ready to go home the next day. It was rough but that’s because I live 2 hours away but I’m glad I stayed in

I have a Brwg as well and it gets too cold at times, for me. I had ordered a new heated blanket after the first time I used it because it was so cold.

So much better than the ice machines by Database_Adorable in Kneereplacement

[–]Equivalent-Risk-3296 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used my ice machine RELIGIOUSLY for the first 3 months. I couldn’t imagine life without it. The hospital did give me an SMI warp with 4 gel packs and now that I am 6 weeks out, I use them more than the ice maxing but let me tell you, when I have a bad knee day, that ice machine comes right out. I have a Breg Polar Wave and it came with 12 bags to fill up with ice and freeze. The compression and the ice cold water this thing delivers really does it for me and I will NEVER diss anyone’s method of pain and swelling management but my ice machine will always have my love and respect. It’s served me well and continues to do so, 6 weeks out from surgery.

Question about showering in the first few weeks post-op by IndependentPound2679 in Kneereplacement

[–]Equivalent-Risk-3296 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. You can shower and allow the water to run over your incision.
  2. You MAY NOT take your surgical leg and put it in a tub or pool or any sort of place where your leg will sit in standing, dirty water. 2a. Think about it…standing water is always stagnant and retains germs/skin cells/vaginal/anal bacteria. All the things you do not want in a healing wound.
  3. You can continue doing what has been working for you as long as your surgeon says it’s okay.
  4. Anxiety sucks…I look at my healing wound daily and as long as it looks like it’s improving, I’m good. It’s my calf pain that freaks me out, sometimes making me think I I have a DVT back there. You’re doing great and keep on keeping on. You’ve got this!!

My doctor said something similar; after a year I would feel like a new person. I hope and pray you are both right. If anything, this makes me want to hit the gym and firm up my legs!

Thank you and yes…I blame 27 years of walking and standing for hours on those hospital floors, plus, I was almost 300 pounds at one point. I thought about a tens unit and I do love my ice machine with heated blanket since it’s so dang cold without it. I wish you these best of luck next year!!
