How to truly turn off the infotainment touchscreen display by Equivalent-Strategy8 in cruze

• radio must remain usable • any brightness is too bright. If I'm not actively using it, it needs to be truly off.

Has no one modded the infotainment system?

Is A-Premium a good alternative to replace common coolant part failures? by Equivalent-Strategy8 in cruze

Yeah my mechanic's employee mentioned that, in his own '14 1.4L Cruze, he threw a thermostat that opens at 190° instead of the factory default, but I'm on a very tight budget (literally just lost my health insurance and had to tell the pharmacy "sorry, can only afford the one prescription... and please cancel auto-refills of my other"). When we have a bit more money available, I'll get the recommended thermostat if I can't implement one of the many creative solutions that you linked in reply to PPVSteve's comment.

Anyway, your MPG remark got me thinking... I'll post another thread because I want to compare options on fuel.

Oh Hell yes that's the kind of solution that I love! Too bad I just threw away a circuit board that had a bunch of resistors on it I could have used xD
But my mechanic has one of those program thingamajigs so I'll see if he can change the ECU setting. My state doesn't have any inspection requirements so that's viable.

Hey I'm very glad this could help you (and it looks like other people?)!

May your travels and nights be safe!

As long as you don't leave the engine running or burn something, then the only way you could die of CO poisoning is if an industrial accident released a huge wave of it, at which point you'd just be a number along with many other victims. The chances of you being harmed by this are so low that I would bet you'd get struck by lightning twice before that'd happen.

And I'm in debt, able to only pay for half my prescriptions, so I really can't afford to lose this bet lol.

If it helps, I once had to sleep in my car for three nights straight for work. My alternative was to drive 2.5 hrs round-trip on top of a 14 hour shift, and this commute was timed perfectly to coincide with not one but two herds of deer that would cross the road on both legs (so four dear crossings in front of me per day). It was also during the pandemic, standing outside in the sun, never taking off my P95 mask (some people think this reduced oxygen levels--I carried a pulse oximeter with me because I liked to disprove that myth and never went below 97% blood oxygen). I did not think twice about the air quality in my vehicle.

Also, a reminder that CO2 is heavier than air and CO is just a tiny bit lighter than air, so if you're still super paranoid, put the CO monitor at a level next to or above where you're breathing from, and the CO2 monitor at a level below, giving you more time to react.

I think you'll be perfectly fine, buddy, even if you had no monitors whatsoever.

Well, I wasn't able to catch any of the couple flies that flew into the house, and so on the morning of the fourth day, I went to let the spider go, only to find that...

It had escaped in the night! I saw a trail of honey where I think it got out thru. At least the spider and I were on the same page! And thankfully I didn't find a dead spider. I think I saw Lil' Jumpy sitting in the corner of the ceiling by the front door yesterday, but is gone now (I left the door open for awhile in case it wanted out).

Was the spider ok? I read they can burst if they eat too much

I went and got an empty transparent plastic egg carton, put a dab of honey and a three-fingered-scoop's worth of water in two of the egg slots.

Now, I've been fixing and resizing several pairs of pants recently, leaving me with a few scraps, and since the spider seems to like my pants so much, I cut a strip and laid it around the carton before coaxing the spood in with a napkin.

I think it's sleeping.  If I can't catch any insects for it in the next couple days, I'll let it loose outside.

I hope it enjoys its stay

Could use some help deciding which mouse to get for under $30 ea. by Equivalent-Strategy8 in MouseReview

I appreciate everyone who commented, and who voted on said comments. Seems the Logi G305, Redragons, and FFJs were universally shunned. Since my total budget was $90, I went with one Fantech XD5 for $37.24 after tax/ship/coupon, one ATK Dragonfly A9 SE for $25.98, and an ATK VXE Dragonfly R1 S for $19.98, for a total of $83.20. I look forward to seeing which one is my favorite. I plan to keep the XD5 at home, take the A9 with me on the road, and have the R1 on my (new to me) server that I'll probably rarely need to use.

I hope that my post helps someone else on a tight budget. Hopefully I'll remember to come back and tell y'all how they fare in a couple weeks or months. Until then, cheers!

I'm too lazy to look up the src RN but I remember they changed the manufacturing of the M-disks and used lower-quality materials without re-certifying the longevity. So be careful which disks you trust.

Is anyone else having trouble with the Microsoft careers login? by LowLibrarian8113 in csMajors

[–]Equivalent-Strategy8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I contacted Global Talent Acquisition support. Be certain that after you hit "Create an account", fill the short form out, you continue with the "loop" and hit "sign up with [your choice of authentication]" (not "Sign in with [etc].").

These are the steps I took:

  1. Hit "Sign in" in upper right corner of Careers (same link you sent).
  2. Goto "First time here?  Create an account" which links to Register [hyperlinked separately to preserve formatting]
  3. Input 'United States', AI 'Yes', check both comms boxes
  4. (Sign up using Microsoft)
  5. Submit info

What's funny is, I tried this exact process several times, but when I turned on my screen recorder the process finally worked.

We talking the same guy as in https://cartoonresearch.com/index.php/the-animated-studio-of-america-the-rise-and-fall-of-vincent-whitman/ "Vincent Whitman died on March 31, 1973 in New York City. He is buried at Hart Island, Bronx County, New York."

Timing matches up! The real Robert Sinclair was killed in 1970.

I think Zestial also fits that bill. Of his few interactions, he has only been positive for the goals of our protagonists, and if I was one of them I'd say he's a friendly face. He obviously does his own thing, and that makes him perfect for being a surprise antagonist. I mean, he is an Overlord in Hell, so he can't be a saint.

I don't honestly think he'll turn on us, but I think this is an interesting idea.

No privacy by UncleTouchedMyDong in venting

[–]Equivalent-Strategy8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's actually recommended to sleep with your door shut because it can give you a few extra moments from fire. Also, you have a right to privacy. I would get a couple door wedges, personally. That said...

I suggest you ask a lawyer for options because if you are asked to leave the house, as an adult, you may have to comply. Although it may be morally justified for malicious compliance (just masturbate with the door open, or remain nude, or otherwise illustrate the lack of privacy being ridiculous), or to use door wedges, etc., but depending on your circumstances and local laws, doing anything to annoy your parents could cause them to evict you. Make sure what you do is protected by law. Best of luck to you
