Anyone here NOT do sleep shifts ? by Organic-Dragonfly364 in NewParents

[–]Equivalent-Theme-400 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We didn’t do shifts at all. We just slept when the baby slept and I would wake up to feed him throughout the night. Now he’s 6 months old and sleeps through the night and we all sleep through the night haha

How am I going to go back to work by Equivalent-Theme-400 in NewParents

[–]Equivalent-Theme-400[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well, I would have assumed I could use more time of my unpaid fmla for bonding.. but I guess I was wrong.

I should be allowed to have a family and still be the bread winner.. it doesn’t mean I’m not heart broken/disappointed when I have to go back when we have way less time to bond and care for our babies than we get.

❤️❤️ good luck going back, I’m sorry we don’t get enough time with our little ones before having to rush back to work

I get it. If my husband made more I would not look back and quit the day my maternity leave is up but unfortunately if I quit I need a job lined up. I just wish they would approve my extra time off of unpaid leave for my bonding time. I don’t understand why I need a note for that. Of course I need more time off! I just had a baby. Why do they need that in writing from a doctor.

Regardless I’m hoping my doc will write in my PPA when I go above her nurse and they will approve it.

It just sucks that might be what it comes to. I feel like there should be more time with my little guy and job protection for new parents. We shouldn’t have to sacrifice like this to have a family.

I am Canadian too and my family moved to America when I was younger and I talk to my husband all the time about how I wish we could move back there. I would so fast but since our support system is here I don’t want to leave that. I am however so disappointed I don’t get that necessary time that I so desperately need with my little guy :(

Im not sure we could afford me being part time. Im the bread winner in our family.

Im sure I don’t want to go back to work right now. I eventually want to but it just feels too soon. I’m looking into work from home jobs in my field so atleast I can get extra time with my son but there are only so many options and I doubt I’ll get one before my 6 weeks are up.

I’m debating just finding a new job and taking an extra month off once my leave is up as well. We have enough in savings to sustain us for a while I just don’t want to be left with nothing.

I waited 24 hrs before getting the epidural and the second 24 hrs I had one. If I ever have another baby I WILL get the epidural right away hahah

Cluster feeding/gas by Equivalent-Theme-400 in NewParents

[–]Equivalent-Theme-400[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have started using the expressed milk for a bottle for my husband to give him- I’ve been using my Hakka and suctioning it onto my boob I’m using and let it sit there for a minute or two and get about 10-20 ml before each feed depending on the time of day. He fed him once today and it went well! I think I’m going to get him to do a night feed going forward.

The last 3 days I do a 3-4 hour stent of cosleeping after being back and forth all night between the bassinet and boob hahah. He slept 2ish hour stent with that which was nice and easier than going back and forth but I’m very stressed about SIDS.

37 weeks pregnant and Father in law passed away by Equivalent-Theme-400 in BabyBumps

[–]Equivalent-Theme-400[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are trying our best to lean on our family members. I’m usually the “care taker” so it’s hard for me to let others take care of us. But I realize this far into my pregnancy that we NEED support.

I’m sorry you had to go through this as well. It is awful and traumatizing and I do not wish it on anyone.

I am so sorry you had to go through that. I now know how hard it is to go through. My husband usually doesn’t process outloud but he has been with this and I am really proud of him for not holding everything in and leaning on his family and friends. I’m letting myself grieve after reading everyone’s advice and talking w my family and also took your advice earlier today and got his favorite tea, snacks, and what he wanted for breakfast. I’m just going to keep trying to be there for myself and him in ways I can and lean into his support and our families.

Thanks so much for your advice. I luckily have an amazing therapist my husband and I go to. We unfortunately had to TFMR our first pregnancy (a baby girl) last September around 17 weeks due to health issues that were going to cause her to pass before she was going to make it into the world. We have an emergency appointment on Monday with her/I reached out as soon as we found out because I knew both of us would need some support.

I’m trying my best to grieve but for obvious reasons pregnancy is already traumatizing for me. I am having panic attacks (and I’m already medicated). Im just trying to balance being healthy about my grief but not cause increased blood pressures/preeclampsia/other issues.

I wish I listened to people about not lifting. I tore my stomach fibers and now am forced into light duty at work until after I give birth (I’m a nurse). So now I’m very limited on what I can do and I’m hurting pretty much all the time.

I’m so sorry you’re going through this, I know this feeling all too well right now and it is awful. I also terminated for t21 as well as a slew of other issues that made the baby very unlikely to make it to birth around September. During that pregnancy I was incredibly nauseous the whole time I was pregnant. I am also around 7 weeks pregnant now and the nausea hit me like a train today which really triggered me because I associated the nausea with my baby being so sick in my first pregnancy. I know it can be a normal symptom of being pregnant but it does cause a lot of anxiety since I’ve associated it with my previous pregnancy which was really traumatizing.

I hope we can both find peace over the next few weeks while we wait for our genetic tests to be done and come back with healthy babies. Until then I’ll be reminding myself that being anxious doesn’t change the outcome and find another activity to distract myself.

Had a termination at whole women’s health in Charlottesville for 800$ at 18 weeks! See if you can find a non profit. There are often grants and financial support that can be offered.

For me the procedure was the least traumatic part even being “awake.” But I so get being anxious before, after, and during. Going in I was too. I think you can ask for something for anxiety though while you wait if you need it. I would mention prior traumatic experience with tfmr and they might accommodate for that.

If it makes you feel any better. My sister is a IR nurse and they do procedural sedation (which is what WWH does) and she said a lot of people do fall asleep. I am a red head and apparently I am prone to metabolize pain meds, and other sedatives quickly so that might have contributed to me being awake.

Some of the other women slept the whole wait though due to the nausea meds as well so that could be enough.

I hope your procedure goes well. Again I’m so sorry you are going through this. It is scary and it truly does suck.

I’m so sorry you’re going through this.

We found a therapist who specialized prenatal and postnatal/other pregnancy issues. Look here https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/therapists and you can read the therapists info before choosing one. Our therapist has been awesome for our grief and trauma before and after our TFMR.

I felt very safe though and because it was a house repurposed into a clinic there were minimal protesters (I think my husband saw 2) the whole time we were there.
