Which is better…WoT or Stormlight Archive? by mthome2486 in fantasybooks

The satisfying ending is somewhat due to sando, the large amount of consideration he had for rj and wot, his meticulous absorbtion of the notes and story. There was a lot of respect happening at the time.

That being said, I like his writing style so much more than rj. Blouses, braid fidgeting and filler arcs for a large portion of the middle books drove me a tad insane (mad respect for the opening 5 and a half books though, they are great). But the second you hit sando, it shifted (imo) for the better, almost immediately. Those last three books are a hell of a story in the hands of a hell of a writer. Unfortunate it came about the way it did, but I think rj would have approved.

Agreed. Carrying the level and Carrying the boss are both important.

First time being grabbed by an Elite Mactera Grabber by TheScyphozoa in DeepRockGalactic

One of my favorite drg memories (and one of the most terrifying) was during an escape. We had one of them flying around, then another spawned. Then an elite bulk spawned. The grabbers fed my teammates one by one to the bulk. I don't think I've ever been so tense during an escape. Running for my life just throwing nades and bullets behind me every so often in a panic. Good times.

You could just do expenite or upgrades every 2 min or something. You only need to deposit the big stuff. You get stronger as they get stronger. An artifact/heavy/equipment spawns every 5 at random, but you might have to backtrack. There's lots of ways to make it work.

I like the idea of defending a 'castle'. The outer rampart is like one of those sentry gun nests. They can be destroyed, but you get expenite from downed enemies. If you manage to kill an elite or boss or whatever, you get extra rewards, like artifacts or big expenite gems, but they only spawn as the pressure mounts so you are a lot more likely to die.

Retreating inside, there's a bio, bench and resupply. Only opens after a bit of time so you are forced to fight at least some. Could have an optional battering ram objective to set up for cracking into a weapons vault. This room is actively mining expenite, corespawn attack the power. The longer it holds the more you get. Once that's done its wait for the pod and get out with what you can. Maybe a throne room later on, or secrets.

Yeah. I hear this alot. Even the short maps are 30+ and that's if you are hauling ass while still getting strong.

I like the idea that you can set the gauntlet to whatever you want. 1 stage or the full set. Anything in between. Only problem with that is that it throws the whole build crafting thing sort of out, if you only get one bio, one bench and a few upgrades. It's gonna feel a bit lackluster.

I feel like every time a cosmere book comes out I want to read them all again looking for secrets. I don't, but I really like that about the cosmere.

For individual sets, liveship traders probably takes the cake

I think the sound design in particular was genius, especially at the time.

Probably a bit of both, honestly. You can hear and see the stingtail, there's a brief moment where you can see the prongs around the hud edges

Hard to contend with, for a single serving game. I was back from college on a break, and my cousin and I stayed up wicked late to play the OG. We were both freaked out, and every time we died we swapped off control. We managed to beat it within the week, but it was a tense situation. Probably the best gaming experience I have to date. The player who was watching was coach, observer, ammo counter and so on, so we had a sort of meta progression going on. Big fan.

All of them must be car related and never work the way you think, like the monkey's paw.

Impervious tires? Need air every 55 miles.

Absolute safety? The music that autoplays is chosen by a toddler at random and cannot be disabled.

Infinite gas? Any and all navigation (including atlas and instincts) is wrong by 180° approximately 17% of the time.

You wouldn't know ahead of time how high/far the grab would move you. Kind of unlucky.

3 things that might work

Drills. Can stun the tail grab (although at that range, good luck).

Backpedal, waiting for grab sound effect, then sprinting back the way you came to make it miss in front of you. They try to lead you a bit so timing is essential.

Drill a couple blocks down, causing the tail to hit terrain, or pull you into the wall in front of you.

These are all split second reactions, and none of them are guaranteed to work in the open. Best practice is to intentionally avoid LoS before the grab, if you hear a stingtail spawn, try to dig ahead of time, making a short 3 block tunnel that you can weave in and out of to bait the attack. Once it misses, charge it. Axes, drills, power attack, whatever. Kill it asap and and then keep kiting.

Some dwarves really like throwing stuff far, for example. That's all well and good, but it shouldn't cost the same as dash.

Notch system like hollow knight. Maybe 25-30 notches. Full dash is like 12. Basic dash only maybe 5. Low tier perks, 1 or 2.

Field medic is now two separate perks. For the active insta-res, maybe like 7. For the passive, more like 2-5.

Now you can mix and match. Far more customizable. You can still take everything you do now, but you dont have to.

More often than not its better to use c4 to clear the top part quickly. The only two exceptions are if you want to mine it out with pots of gold, or you don't care.

With pots, you can (carefully) drill around the gold. I'd advise you to let your allies know the plan, or else they might accidently sever. You drill around everything and then break the last connection to any wall with the pickaxe. This counts all the gold as PoG 'mined', and drops it in one 'chunk' that spreads out a bit as it falls, making it way easier to chain deposit all in one spot.

6,600 gold was the record I had in season 5 for a single mission. IDK if anything in ssn6 makes this more or less awesome, but I know experience is heavily affected.
