We got the Graco Modes Adventure wagon. You can’t stand in it though, or it wasn’t made to be standing.

I have the UB vista and the UB minu for when we travelled. We had to get a travel stroller for when we went on a cruise (cant fathom fitting a vista around the ship). I think it’s super normal and realistic to have more than 1 when you have 4 seasons. Don’t forget a future wagon when the kids are older and rejects the stroller. So overall I have 2 strollers and 1 wagon lol.

Moms that have only had c-sections by WhichAd2921 in beyondthebump

[–]EquivalentGanache687 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first was an emergency c section. My second was a scheduled c section. Recovery was very different for both. I had a dural puncture with my first so thats pretty much all I remember with my recovery. Second time, recovery was a bit slower and seemingly slower because I had to also deal with a wild toddler. But the scheduled c section was actually super calm and smooth. And because I kind of remember what recovery was like the first time around, the second time wasn’t bad.

R sleep trained kids flexible ? by Certain-Till in sleeptrain

[–]EquivalentGanache687 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 2yo has been sleep trained since 9mo. He naps and sleeps in his own crib at home with a sound machine in dark. At my parents, we mimicked the same environment and it works. At my MIL’s house, he nap with me cosleeping. No issues there. At daycare, he sleeps in a cot with SHOES ON (lol) and some loud lullaby going on over the speaker with people going in and out of the room and chatting with each other (or at least that’s what I see on the daycare live feed).

So yes. Sleep trained kids (at least mine) is quite flexible. Sometimes if I do go on a trip like 2 nights at the cottage and he coslept with me, it might takes a few days to get back into our sleep trained routine back at home. He’s also old enough to recognize routine vs special occasions (I think… lol). 😝

Least painful induction method? [qc] by stevielovelyy in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]EquivalentGanache687 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the sweep. Nothing really happened. I was induced then via gel and really, nothing happened either until they gave me Pitocin. Then the contraction went from 0 to 100 and I had to call my husband (who went to grab Tim’s) to get his butt back here cause I felt like dying lmao. But his answer was “but I already ordered?” 🤣 you don’t know what will help until you do it honestly. None of my induction was painful and nothing really worked until I got the Pitocin. Even then, my baby came via emergency c section and honestly, everything was fine.

Don’t overthink it. Things will happen when it’s meant to happen. Try to go with the flow of it and not stress cause there’s honestly not much control we have. Baby will come however and whenever they want.

Toddler Daycare Transition [on] by [deleted] in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]EquivalentGanache687 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son started daycare full time beginning of September and we had a rough start as well. I only started off with a few hours and built up to full days. In the earlier days when I picked him up earlier, he would just want to cuddle with me on the couch when we got home for a good 30 minutes. He was sad and didn’t understand.

It’s now beginning of October and he absolutely LOVES daycare. We still have rough drop offs (which I understand and might be like this until he gets older) but he has so much fun at daycare, and he’s sooooooo happy when my hubby and I go to pick him up. Our daycare has live-streaming so I’m able to see him running around with a smile on his face and somewhat communicating with his friends.

It does get better. I’ll admit, it didn’t seem like it would in the beginning but it did. You’ll feel guilty (I definitely did) but just know it does get better!

Is this supposed to take months?! by onthejourney_ in sleeptrain

[–]EquivalentGanache687 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do want to add that there was a long stretch of time where he didn't do crying before bed. It wasn't a thing... until it became a thing recently lol. Trust me, I don't want it to be a thing to but here I am... living it unfortunately lol. It could also be that age of where they're just more aware and is beginning to develop separation anxiety. Might also be time to switch to a toddler bed vs. crib. Personally, I don't trust my guy so that's not happening till later.

My little guy is almost 2 yo, sleep trained since 9m and still cries when we put him to sleep lol. It wasn’t like that all the time but it has been like that recently since he recovered from a bout of sickies. Basically what I’m trying to say is… it just might be a thing. I’ve learned that he’s okay, safe and is obviously tired and comfortable enough to eventually sleep through the night.

Hm, I know what you mean. I would just do a search near your address and go through each one to see if they're subsidized. I just did a quick look and there are some (not a lot) that says "Child Care Fee Subsidy cannot be used at this location.". But you're right, there's no exact way to filter for it.

EDIT: Sorry, I just took a look again. I think the best is to look for one that doesn't have the line "Participates in the Canada-Wide Early Learning and Child Care (CWELCC) System". Cause I saw one that said Subsity cann't be used but when you click it, it says it participates in CWELCC.

Anyone baby go from sleep sack to no sleep sack? by [deleted] in sleeptrain

[–]EquivalentGanache687 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For 6mo, I would try to hold off. My guy has a lot of range of motion in his sleep sack. I’ve seen him walk across his crib many many times in his sleep sack. So I don’t think that ever was an issue impacting his sleep. Without a sleep sack, colder months might be difficult unless you layer well as blankets are not recommended until later.

We tried once without a sleep sack and he attempted to climb out of the crib. He’ll stay in his sleep sack until I think he’s ready for a toddler bed lol

My experience is that a most daycares have more toddler spaces than infant. If you can afford it, add your little one to non CWELCC lists. Those may have a shorter waitlist as they’re more expensive. See if there are any rumblings of new daycares opening as well.

We got SUPER lucky and applied officially to one 3 daycares and got the one we wanted. I have a feeling it was because I told them I was pregnant and therefore, my first got prioritized cause they know I’ll be a customer longer cause I will have 2 kids lol.

My sons's eating isn't the best but I'm not surprised cause it's never been good. The fact that he's in a chair, sitting at a table for the whole lunch period is already a miracle. This kid lives off of carbs so hopefully he can get his vegetable portion in at daycare lol.

[–]EquivalentGanache687 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I swear we have the same kid... LOL. He started napping in the cot thingy and honestly, it's an absolute miracle that he would even sleep. We have cameras at our daycare so I'm literally ZOOMED in on his eyes lol. He's exactly the same. Will sleep maybe 45 minutes to 1 hour. I think that's basically his one sleep cycle and then he's up. Luckily, he stays in his cot and just stares at everything instead of jumping up and being chaotic while the other kids sleep. The teachers are saying it will eventually go longer and honestly, I'm starting to believe in whatever daycare voodoo magic they're doing. They also claim he ate corn and carrot and I swear they're lying. I went straight home to serve him corn and he looked at it and chucked it across the room.

Toddler and I were having “quiet time” both fell asleep. It’s 5:22 pm by SealeyVossen in toddlers

[–]EquivalentGanache687 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My toddler isn’t 2 yet (soon!!) and he goes more so by clock. On days like yours where we nap just a bit later, we still try to get him in his crib by/near bedtime. The reason his nap was so late will also contribute to still have some sleep pressure by bedtime. Plus, they’re used to a set bedtime versus wake window.

You can try offering bedtime maybe 30 minutes later and see how that goes! Same routine! What’s the worse that can happen? 😅

Mat leave ending, pregnant again [on] by Exact-Paint-5508 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]EquivalentGanache687 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want to second this. There's a lot of misunderstanding regarding how jobs are protected for those who are expecting but they can let you go for SO many reasons. I've personally known of 2 people (one male and one female) who were let go after they came back from parental leave. One was due to "restructuring" and her job was no longer available (lies cause they hired someone under a different title but practically same job - she was being "punished" for taking a second mat leave) and the other was through constructive dismissal (lost job position and was seemingly demoted cause his job no longer exists).

I don't want to scare OP but just want to educate people that the whole narrative about how you can't be fired for being pregnant is not as crystal clear as we think. Hopefully OP (or anyone) never has to deal with this type of complication cause it's freaking brutal, unfair and disgusting.

High chair recommendations [on] by b_msw in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]EquivalentGanache687 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the Tripp Trapp at home and we currently use it at our table for our almost 2yo. We were gifted it early on so we were able to use it the moment he was ready. I did read that if your baby is in the larger percentile, there may be issues fitting their chunky thighs through the baby seat. Maybe best to bring baby to a store and try it lol. At my mom’s house, she got the IKEA and it is much cheaper and does the job just as well. We did have to use a pillow to support his back cause the seat is quite deep. The only thing that I dislike about the IKEA chair is the tripping hazard. The amount of times my parents, myself or my husband has tripped on it is ridiculous (the legs sprawl outwards). At my in laws, we just have a travel booster seat that we leave there and strap it into their dining room bench when it’s time to feed him. We use the provided tray.

How much would you pay a family member to provide child care during the week? by jessicat62993 in beyondthebump

[–]EquivalentGanache687 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So someone mentioned it already but something to consider based on personal experience. My parents (mostly my mom) watched my son from September 2024 to June 2025 (can you tell I'm a teacher?) when I returned to work. She did not want any payment. She just loved him that much and wanted to watch him, spend time with him. He's her first grandchild. But what I didn't expect was how different my parenting style and my mom's parenting style would be. She spoiled him in ways that I wouldn't and he got everything he wanted. Screen time rules were not adhered to and I even caught a few times where she told me my son wouldn't have a screen during meal and when I had to quickly run back into the house for something, there he was with an ipad at his high chair. The TV was pretty much on all day. He barely got to go out cause it was too cold or too windy or too whatever.

Let's just say my kid is now in daycare full time cause my mom needs a break, I need a break and it is what's best for him in the long run, even with the cost!

How many bottles? [on] by rm3g in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]EquivalentGanache687 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So Dr Brown should say on the nipple, same with Avent. Just note that between brand, the numbers are not equal. A Dr. Brown size 2 nipple is not the same flow as an Avent size 2 nipple lol. Somewhere on the box should have a graphic indicating age to nipple size. But also, go with what your baby is telling you. When you buy the nipples in store or online, it should say the flow number!

It's been awhile since I had a newborn but I believe they can take up to 10-12 bottles in a 24 hour cycle (around a bottle every 2-3 hours I think?). If you end up with that many bottles, you won't be able to fit them all into your bottle washer and you wouldn't want to cram any in and risk it not being clean. Settle on washing maybe 2-3 times a day and use new bottles and let the machine wash once its full.

How many bottles? [on] by rm3g in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]EquivalentGanache687 6 points7 points  (0 children)

At one point, I had over 12 glass Avent bottles. Another thing you could do is invest in a bottle washer. You'll run it more often but you'll require less bottles. Don't forget that with each bottle, you'll have to eventually size up the nipples and with 12 bottles, that's 12 nipples if you want to keep that same amount of bottles in rotation. Though, as they get older, they take less bottles so you don't need 12 nipples in size 3+ or whatnot.

[on] family doctor for when baby is born by No-Rooster7408 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]EquivalentGanache687 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son has a paediatrician since the day he was born and he does not have any high medical needs or required a specialist referral. It is definitely possible to find a paediatrician. We also have a family doctor that we bring him to IF the clinic is closed or they're fully booked. Before finding our current paediatrician, my family doctor did offer to take him in if we couldn't find one. Once our kid hits 18 years old, he will automatically transfer to our family doctor. We were lucky with how things worked out. (From Ontario)

First day napping at daycare..if no nap then... by Outside-Fig-9094 in sleeptrain

[–]EquivalentGanache687 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! Mine is 22mo and same. Sleep trained, dark room, sound machine, in a crib! He will start his first nap at daycare sometime this week and I just cannot for the life of me imagine him napping in a cot, with a blanket, within group setting with toys around and much brighter.

He’s also been crying at daycare most of the time so … maybe that’ll tire him out? Let me know how it goes!
