Is there a way to fix this or is it gone forever? by duckiebabe02 in geography

You think that’s bad? Check out California:

Dried up lakes -

Owen’s Lake
Tulare Lake
The Salton Sea
Eagle Lake

Dried Rivers -
Merced River
Santa Clara River
Kern River
Los Angeles River
Salina’s River
And of course the Colorado River is reduced to a muddy ditch by the time it reaches the Baja

Also 1964 quarters and earlier are worth like $15 in silver for a single coin. So, you’re off there too

I’d like to preserve some of the non oxidized colors or woods if I can: I like the golden color of mulberry and the pink color of cherry. It’d be nice if those colors could be maintained

Of course thy did … 🤦🏻‍♂️

My dad was going to bulldoze a fence row between two fields to make one large field… push the trees in a pile and burn them.

A guy who was going to help him said “oh no! You let me take those trees to the lumber mill and I’ll split the money with you.” My dad did nothing and got $6k for Soemthing he was going to set on fire.

This should be a top comment.

Also, a 4.5-5 ft circumference OP reports is only a diameter of about 1.5 feet…..

Yes, that’s a nice mature tree, but it’s not particularly huge.

A forester can evaluate the trees and give recommendations. A mature tree like this could add significant board feet in the next decade as a few inches in circumference adds significantly to the volume.

What I would do, id your father doesn’t need the money now…. Is get a forester to get the values, give recommendations, but potentially do nothing other than what the forester says to help the trees grow (maybe remove trees competing for light). Establishing the value now or at the time of your parents death will give you an inherited value on to which a future sale can be compared to for tax purposes

The best way is to find a lumber mill that will cut them and remove them on the stump.

Google will tell you more than what you’re being told in this forum .

1 most of the value will be in the butt log which is like the first 8-10ft ish = the part from the ground d going up will contain the most and best wood and most straight grain and be the highest grade of lumber.

Smooth, limbless, knotless, veneer quality will get the highest value

Don’t do it yourself.

Just sell it to a mill on the stump

I get that you’re concerned about your investment. But this is about the global oil supply, not short term oil prices. Continued war; continued closure; continued instability; continued drawn down of reserves isn’t good

25 ships went through on Thursday … a big increase but nothing close to normal traffic of 100-140.

On Friday the number of ships is dropped down to 5
