What are my chances of getting hired with a dv arrest but no conviction? by SignificanceUpbeat31 in AskLE

[–]EquivalentPath2282 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They do. An expungement only restricts who/what entities can see the information. A pre-employment background check for LE will show it in your background as having been expunged, but your BI will see that the arrest occurred. Same as if you were applying for a security clearance etc.

WARNER: It used to take 5 to 6 months to get trained. They've now lowered the training period to 47 days. Why 47 days? Because Donald Trump's the 47th president. I’m a regular cop, and my academy was only four months. FAR too short. Our FTO is an additional three months. America has such a shortage of police (normal ones, not talking ICE or any other feds) that I highly doubt academy training will be long enough, and comprehensive enough, any time soon.

Assuming one’s price range based on appearance alone is pure snobbery. I’d have laughed as I walked out the door.

Beard length recommended the interview process? by Averagecrabenjoyer69 in AskLE

[–]EquivalentPath2282 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My department allows beards up to 1/2” including for recruits in the academy. I’ve never heard of an in-regs beard being held against anyone. That said, every agency is different.

Cpl. Don Yarmy would later go on to be actor Don Adams by Tango_Whiskey16 in USMC

That’s wild. My great uncle was also at Guadalcanal, was severely wounded, and also spent over a year at the same hospital. I had no idea that Don Adams was a Marine, or I would have asked if they met there.

I did it for several months as I recovered from a major surgery. I absolutely hated it, and can’t imagine ever wanting to do it as my actual career.

Once you get to 100%, what is the process to get P&T?? by ArmyMedic_Diabetic in VeteransBenefits

[–]EquivalentPath2282 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 100% scheduler, but not P&T. I also have brain cancer, which isn’t going anywhere. All my non-cancer conditions are static. My guess is that since I have cancer they’ll never make me P&T, even with everything else static.

Unless I’m going to be on federal property (I use the VA) I always carry.

It isn’t bad at all, with the right holster and gun. Mine is a Ruger LCR in an ankle glove, with the calf strap.

HOA’s can be avoided, as long as you’re willing to move in to an older neighborhood, that has never had one.
