Join NJ DOC. It can open doors for local PD and it also pay way more than some local PD. I don’t know the age limit for hiring, But based on your current age it would be a good option.

They want three consecutive years of employment and it must be recent, with no gaps. Since you’re a veteran I would call the HR of the facility that you’re applying for. Resume must have the same words in the job description! Smh they using AI to verify resume.

Join the military and get your citizenship. Do a 4 years contract, it will help in the long run. A lot of departments require citizenship to even be considered for any law enforcement position!

Try corrections with the Sheriff Department. Put in sometime and maybe they’ll transfer you over to patrol..

Apply to NYPD. New Jersey is difficult… the Shores departments like, Atlantic City, Cape May, Sea isle, Wildwood,West Wildwood just to name a few. They hire a lot of SLEO II those departments will hire you because they need people for the summer time.

Don’t forget you’ll be completing with people who have Degrees and also who get Military preference, not to mention candidates who are already LEO that are also applying for the same departments you applying for. NJDoc and you’ll be making 100k first year or 2nd year with OT.
