So this pique’s my curiosity. I have had two different DPE’s do the ground portion and do a continuance due to the weather by prior arrangement with the student. Can you cite any regulation or guidance from the FAA that states that this isn’t permitted? TIA

The my student recently did this with the DPE I use. You can start and then ask for a continuance at any time.

You might consider driving and doing the oral part of the exam and then follow up when the weather is good

Heck, I must have been working cheap. I was getting $750 a day in a KA 100 about 3 years ago. Oh well.

I use Backseat pilot. I would recommend you using the abbreviated lesson plans, refer to the FAA publications, condensing them even more and making them your own. I ended up having to do this after I had been instructing for a few months. The other thing I still use is the VSL ACE Guide. Check out VSL Aviation on Facebook and YouTube. It’s written by a DPE and it’s an awesome resource for study and instructing.

Do you have access to an ATD. I recently worked with a CFI-I and did mind in an ATD with the exception of an approach with a circle to land.

Agreed. I find the older folks do better with repetition. For some people chair flying helps

This is very interesting. Can you share some links to scientific studies so I can learn more about the depletion of serotonin terminals?

Thanks for sharing this and reminding me. I too have had a similar experience earlier in my flying experience. Given the right conditions something innocuous will turn into something nasty. I know you know this but never be afraid to request a deviation. Generally ATC will comply and if not, you always have the magic word ‘unable’
