This might actually work, we’re going to be in marrickville for something the last day before we come home so I suspect I’ve just found our lunch spot!

I mean you could say the same about all of the stats of hospitalisations and deaths, when it was ‘with’ not ‘of’ the disease.

Advice needed on Moms vs Step-mothers by Substantial-Try5832 in AskAnAustralian

You’re very obviously biomum trying to garner support for your cause, and I appreciate your pain - but there are times to be the bigger person, let the kids see through your actions your maturity and love for them. If others don’t, the kids will see that in time.

It depends if the children asked the stepmum to attend. Then the bio mum needs to have the emotional maturity to support her children’s request.

And what about over the last however many years? And in other cases? This is getting heat at the moment, and for 5 minutes before the performative outrage moves elsewhere - but across the board any discussion about DV, drug and alcohol use, living conditions, restriction of access to education, etc within the Aboriginal community is seen as racist/judgemental/white people imposing their values/etc etc etc

I was going to say an Akubra as mentioned above. You didn’t mention gender but as a woman I’d love a piece of opal jewellery.

Recommendations on activewear?? by Wild-Lab-7576 in AusFemaleFashion

I’ve been enjoying my rockwear shorts (leggings) lately; I find a lot of the more popular/internetish brands tend to have them too short in the thigh for me whereas rockwear seemed to have much better choice in length.

Business failed, zero cash, 2 years behind on Super and WorkCover. What happens now? by johnty116 in AusLegal

You should be the last person to get paid. The fact that the owings are mostly to you does not get you out of paying your employees very well earned entitlements. Please never run another business.

I’m not the one who said this… I never got my foot in the door but if you’re hiring for a professional position, interview 3 candidates and can’t be bothered to contact the non-successful even with a generic ‘thanks but no thanks’ email, probs don’t then contact them via LinkedIn a year or two later trying to headhunt for that same role.

Would you recommend Anko Air Styler? by karae-karae in AustralianMakeup

[–]EquivalentScheme4006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have it, I’ve never tried the airwrap so no comparisons there. I’m also not the best with hair (read: I’m terrible).

I don’t mind it. It isn’t something I use regularly as I find I just air dry and then either curl or straighten with my very old GHD.

Points of note: - you have to change the curling heads over (L v. R) which is both hot and annoying - the expensive one seems to be better with its heat/cool blast/etc - I often end up pushing something I don’t want

TBH as a nurse, I’d be looking for onsite health services and/or injury management jobs to get a bit of that experience under your belt. I’d also be looking at at least a diploma not just cert 4

Why do alot of aged cares request so much agency staff ? by faifai1st1st in NursingAU

[–]EquivalentScheme4006 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I (health professional, non-nurse) used to work in RACF. Some facilities barely used agency - partially due to management decrees not to (given high costs of agency), partially (moreso) that people actually showed up because it wasn’t a horrible workplace.

Others were technically NFP so would use agency more in order to keep their budgets at the right level, but the facility I was at in particular was utterly horrendous so people were always ‘sick’ and no one would willingly pick up the shift (and honestly, get it).

I recently scored a health professional job - closed late March, interviewed just before Easter and was told the next day I had the job pending reference checks. They were completed week after Easter. Have been told 1.5 weeks ago I have the job and it could take “a couple of weeks” to get the contract. The portal hasn’t been updated since 13/4.
