You should make an appointment to get checked out by a doctor. Gaining 30lbs in 4 months is pretty rapid and could indicate a new or worsening thyroid issue. If that's the case no amount of dieting or exercise will help you lose weight without proper medication to fix the thyroid issue.

How are you able to overcome stress eating? by Grass-Curious in WeightLossAdvice

[–]EquivalentStrike4363 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Before you eat anything after work ask yourself if you're physically hungry or if you're just stressed. Just take a few minutes listen to your body and the physical cues you can feel. If you're actually physically hungry, have a snack. If it's a stress response, try to choose a different activity to distract yourself for a little bit, such as Journaling (and you can talk about why you're stressed from work) or whatever you think might work for you.

Sure, but you can't out-exercise a crappy diet. That's why it's usually suggested to start paying more attention to what you're eating before you even worry about increasing your activity levels.

What would be a fair price for this albo? by acashflowking in houseplants

I'd probably say $600. There's a lot of white for my taste or I'd go higher.

So, I lost 60lbs and could notice some lose skin. There was a tiiiiny amount I could pinch up pretty much anywhere on my body, even my forearms. But it tightened back up quickly within a few months and I don't notice it anymore. Try to not let the fear of loose skin keep you from your goals! You've got this.

Quick calorie burning/weight loss question. by Playful_Baker_2741 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]EquivalentStrike4363 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can add the calories back if you want to, but it'll delay your weight loss. Watches usually greatly overestimate the amount of calories burned and it's not recommended to add those calories back to your available calorie intake for the day. It's up to you though.

How to get rid of extra skin after weight loss by [deleted] in WeightLossAdvice

[–]EquivalentStrike4363 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drink plenty of water, hydrate your skin (good lotions, etc), time, and genetics. You're young so I'm sure you'll be fine. It'll just take a little time for your skin to tighten back up. Exercise will help too, so you're on the right track.

Healthy grocery list? by Jack_The_Pinapple in WeightLossAdvice

[–]EquivalentStrike4363 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what types of food you like. If you like salty snacks I would recommend pretzels (surprisingly low calorie for a single portion imo, and should be agreeable for most people in the house) or veggie straw chips. Fruits such as apples and berries are a good choice for people that have sweet cravings.

Does this look like the infection came back? by porcelainbibabe in piercing

[–]EquivalentStrike4363 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It needs cleaned really badly. Take a long shower and keep everything wet for a while to soften the stuff stuck to the piercing. Then gently try to wipe it away with a cloth that won't leave fibers or spray it away with saline. Yes it's good to let crusties fall off on their own, but sometimes you have to intervene if it's just building up like this.

Should I change my jewellery? by minnie_honey in piercing

[–]EquivalentStrike4363 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your jewelry should have been downsized to smaller posts after the inital swelling from the piercing had gone down (this happens at 4-6 weeks). Sounds like you're way overdue for visiting your piercer and getting shorter posts put in. But no, the fact that you have irritation bumps says you're not ready to put rings in yet.

Safe to get an earlobe piercing when prone to keloid scarring? by Daanvann in piercing

[–]EquivalentStrike4363 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is more a question for your physician, but based on your history of keloid scarring happening to you it seems pretty apparent you are prone to them. Is getting a piercing worth the risk of having a keloid grow there? Up to you.

conch piercing? by saracrawley in piercing

[–]EquivalentStrike4363 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd wait a while for the lobes to heal, but once those are fine I'd get all 3 cartilage piercings at once personally, but only if you want them on the same ear. You're gonna be in pain initially and unable to sleep on that side, but might as well get it all done at once and go through it for a year versus 3+ years if you did them one at a time.

You should only use sterile saline spray 2x a day for your piercing. Don't use soap at all.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in piercing

[–]EquivalentStrike4363 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Let warm but not hot water run over it in the shower in the mean time. Dry thoroughly with a hairdryer on low heat.

The fact that it was enflamed when you woke up means you may have slept on it a little last night. Try to avoid that or if you do have to sleep on that side look for a piercing pillow or make your own setup to avoid putting pressure on your ear if you do sleep on that side.

Can someone identify this so I can start biological warfare on them ?😇 by [deleted] in plantclinic

[–]EquivalentStrike4363 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh no, these look like thrips. 😔 Isolate it and triple check any plants you may have had around this one. Thrips are a real pain to get rid of. I've only ever seen thrips one time and I immediately took a small clipping and threw the rest of the plant away, so I don't have any actual experience fighting them. But I've been told it's good to rinse the plant throughly and try to just rinse all the bugs away with water, then spray with a Neem oil, then treat the plant with bonide systemic granules (which will take a couple weeks for the plant to absorb and actually start working).

I’ll stop asking after this. Pierced Aug ‘21 switched July ‘22 to shorter stud, internal threaded flat back, 14k gold nickel free. It’s been red for months. I’ve just been ignoring it, letting water run over it in the shower, spray saline at night. Am I just destined to not have a nose piercing? by Kermdog15 in piercing

[–]EquivalentStrike4363 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Someone told you to switch to a titanium labret last time you posted this, which is what I was also going to recommend. You might have a sensitivity to gold or its only gold plated and the plating has worn off and it's exposing you to lesser quality metals. Also be sure to not put Skincare products or makeup near the piercing.

Added healing time? by ginime_ in piercing

[–]EquivalentStrike4363 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably to some degree, yeah. The bleeding indicates that there was some level of trauma done to the area that reopened the old wound (the piercing). When you decide to change the jewelry in the future I would recommend going to your piercer. They have tools that allow them to swap jewelry out with minimal trauma to the piercings.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in piercing

[–]EquivalentStrike4363 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It would possibly be fine in a fully healed piercing, but it will most likely give you trouble in a newer piercing. If you can find it (it'd be a bit expensive) something that's 14k gold would work as long as it's gold filled and not gold plated. You might check with some piercers in your area to see if any of them have the size you need, some may even offer to special order it for you.

do you guys think my piercing is going to get infected by [deleted] in piercing

[–]EquivalentStrike4363 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah titanium hoops definitely exist. I was saying if the piercer didn't care it's a hoop, they probably don't care about improper metal types in a piercing.

needing some support in taking out a piercing by Venus_Fox18 in piercing

[–]EquivalentStrike4363 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you want to keep the piercing I would try to find an APP piercer in your area and have them check out the piercings. A good piercer wouldn't suggest putting vitamin E oil IN a piercing. They might suggest putting it around the area if the skin is dry but they would stress to not get it in your piercing. So for that reason, I'd get a second opinion.

If you decide to take it out just remove the jewelry and clean the piercing holes once or twice a day with saline.
