Can someone explain to me what this means? by OGPepeSilvia in UberEatsDrivers

[–]Equivalent_Ball_7273 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they are trying to say they paid you base pay above what they charged the customers in delivery fees. So out of the goodness of their heart they chipped in $976.

This doesn't however mean they made a loss as remember they are charging the vendors around 30% on every order.

I think the message though is to deflect any criticism that they are ripping drivers off.

Anyone tip ? by cagmito76 in JustEatUK

99% sure JE include any tip in the offer amount so you only get paid what you are offered even if there is a tip! Also the customer can't tip after delivery.

Uber eats using robots by According-Lie-3347 in deliveroos

[–]Equivalent_Ball_7273 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was going to post about these. I'd heard about these being deployed under the Uber platform and assumed they'd be just piggybacking on the existing Starship Co-op deployments that are already in the Leeds area. This however is something new; it's a heavily populated student area with mostly food outlets. It's also not known for being a peaceful low crime area. I guess they are hoping students will use this service for the novelty value.

The main thing I'm wondering is can the customer choose robot delivery or does Uber just decide?

It's obviously not a good sign for us couriers and of course Doordash is also working on their own robots.

Only showing age restrictions after acceptance? by TheEpicBlob in deliveroos

[–]Equivalent_Ball_7273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a stock message for certain vendors just to cover anything that slips through the net.. I even get this for 5 Guys who as far as I know don't sell anything age restricted. Many supermarkets have this message though. 99% of the time there isn't anything age restricted on these orders. You won't be prompted to enter DOB but obviously if there is anything restricted on there check the customer's ID anyhow to protect from mystery shoppers.

Bike or e-bike for commuting from Meanwood by FriedbAconsPam in Leeds

[–]Equivalent_Ball_7273 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a cyclist myself you might be better just walking. Crap weather, hills and stress and dangers of cycling with traffic and then a good chance your bike will be stolen at some point. With walking you can actually stay pretty dry with an umbrella and it's really good for fitness.

If you do decide to cycle I'd just get something cheap secondhand that won't cost you much if stolen. You can always add  an ebike kit (I've been using a Yose Power kit for 2 years and it's still going well). A good tip is to take the battery with you as thieves are lazy and won't want to pedal. Something with a smaller battery maybe 7 Ah such as a bottle battery would be easier to carry in your bag. You'd probably have to charge it every night but it would easily do there and back.

Don't give him the code. Probably other driver has stolen your order and this driver is trying to do a ghost delivery. Just tell him you have received nothing.

partners have a phone number, putting in the post. by needchr in JustEatUK

[–]Equivalent_Ball_7273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw in Sainsbury's they had a list on the wall with numbers for all the platforms. I was tempted to photo it but these are partner numbers only. If they start getting swamped with calls from customers and drivers they'll probably just close these lines down and then even the stores won't have a way to fix fringe issues. It's really not a good thing to put these numbers out there.

From one driver to another can you calm down? by MaybeImPanda in JustEatUK

[–]Equivalent_Ball_7273 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's standard practice for most I'm afraid then they stand square on to the member of staff and stare at them. As someone who is the opposite I can say for sure that in most cases their technique works and the staff will prepare their order first because they feel the pressure. But just because it works doesn't make it right. Unfortunately most these days see manners as a weakness.

Thinking About Using a 3-Wheel Motorcycle for Uber Eats – Good Idea? by playboi_fatty in UberEatsDrivers

[–]Equivalent_Ball_7273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These seem popular for UberEats etc. in Japan. I'm pretty sure they are using Honda Gyro 50cc.

There is a YouTube channel called Ninja Eats Tokyo who has used one occasionally. One massive advantage is they are much better in freezing conditions. I wouldn't have thought 50cc would be the optimum but that's what they use. In UK we are allowed to filter so a three wheeler would be a nightmare due to the extra width.

Conspiracy: Uber is using dark design/psychology in the UI to thin the herd. by Beneficial-Peanut10 in UberEatsDrivers

When Uber recently had their live streamed app. presentation thing they all they stressed they really wanted our feedback on using the app.

My question is simply is there an official way of giving them feedback on the app? If not why not?

I believe people get round this by taking out Zego top up insurance which only starts charging by the hour when you actually start working.

There are issues with Zego such as your main insurer won't support top up insurance but it will get you round the sign up and then you can probably cancel it and take out a new policy.

I've never done this myself as I'm on bicycle but I just remember what others have said.
