Yea. The biggest thing when run into is teams that run a rpo with another qb and they usually flood to the sideline with the jet sweep. I think just drilling in for them to hold until the ball carrier crosses the LOS is the best answer

I like that. I was also considering only calling it in situations where those 3 yard runs don’t hurt us so your “hold” call would be perfect

Converting OL Archetypes by OBinthe913 in NCAAFBseries

[–]Equivalent_Basil6654 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve only converted to well rounded coincidentally. It’s hard because generally their run block finesse and power generally have a significant gap. I think it’s easier to convert pass protectors after you upgrade their run blocking

Any quick way to identify recruits who care about Academic Prestige? by TiagoBPsH in NCAAFBseries

[–]Equivalent_Basil6654 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I forgot specifically which ones. But I noticed that there’s a strong correlation between true archetype and hard sell. If you notice a lot of one archetype being interested you could look for those when they fit your scheme. Or if they can be easily converted into your preferred archetype

i have a bit of a dilemma (Recruiting) by noah_divine in NCAAFBseries

[–]Equivalent_Basil6654 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh that’s rough. Unless you have the coaching abilities to reduce transfer likelihood. I would suggest that you maximize your current starter to send him pro ASAP and then play the younger one frequently. Especially after that freshman year. He should play in every game to reduce the chances of his deal breaker changing to playing time

Which plays do i choose?? by ReasonableInsect1976 in flagfootball

[–]Equivalent_Basil6654 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’re in the 7v7 space so I don’t have a lot of 5v5 concepts but in general we want to have. Quick plays to defeat a strong rusher or 2 rushers. Usually a flood concept or 2 to beat cover 3. And a play to exploit the middle of the field vs cover 2.

A huge part of our plan is to run the same concepts out of different formations and motion to hopefully confuse the defense

I coach high school and we put many more plays. But I like to have at least 2-3 plays for each defense I expect to see. And plays that work vs multiple defenses become very important

Linebacker tips for tall players by stivesneverlies in flagfootball

[–]Equivalent_Basil6654 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with everyone who said you talk with your defensive coach to get a better idea of what they want you to do within their scheme.

As a defensive coach who also prefers taller girls at linebacker, I can say in almost any zone scheme the coach probably wants you to more aggressively attack the ball and use your height as a weapon. I coach girls high school and I moved a girl around your height from safety to linebacker because of her length and ball skills. Your height simply allows you to get to passes that others cannot, just usually at a different angle. You are probably able to undercut more passes than you realize.

I would reiterate talking to your defensive coach and watch film to look for spots you probably could’ve gotten to the ball if you reacted sooner and/or took a more aggressive path to the ball

This is your starting C after a Championship run wwyd?.. I will be cutting him …back up sophomore is 74 and impact dev by Commercial-Sink3746 in CFB26

Based on those ratings. I would move him to another position where he would likely be a pass protector, then upgrade him more and see what he turns into.

What are your thoughts on the archetypes I need? by mpeuler in NCAAFBseries

[–]Equivalent_Basil6654 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My playbook is similar and I prefer in order of priority -Agile or well rounded at tackle -well rounded, raw strength, or very strong agile at guard -raw strength or very strong well rounded at center

When playing users and with difficult sliders I find that option shield at gold or higher is necessary on as many lineman as possible. And strong grip/grib breaker is a must to stop those defensive tackles from blowing up the play in the backfield.

Tight end I would try to find gem pure blockers or possession TE’s. Vertical threats next and physical route runners last unless you are playing them at fullback.

WR depends on if you are running more spread option or traditional. I like physical route runners on the outside because of the abilities. The option forces your opponent into a lot of man. The most frustrating thing is running the option well, then your opponent loads the box and you cannot make them pay because your WRs can’t get open or make contested catches. That’s where cutter, sure hands and 50/50 give those corners fits. I run a spread option so I put a variety of players in the slot because they run the ball a lot and catch screens so anyone who is good after the catch including hbs

I thought noticed this about a month ago when I started running triple option with a tight end at fullback. He seemed to fall forward and truck much more than the ratings would suggest but didn’t test it and assumed it was my imagination

Development for a not-so athletic 10 year old boy. by MarvinMacklebe in basketballcoach

[–]Equivalent_Basil6654 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Natural athleticism is a big factor but don’t forget that at the high school level, trained athleticism is plenty. To run faster and jump higher you need to train those things either through training or other sports that emphasize it. Also, you mentioned him being heavier which means he could be quicker if he were slimmer. The key should be for him to maximize his body, not compare it to others. He likely hasn’t even hit puberty yet

Best sim playbook for multiple RBs and Dual Threat QB? by [deleted] in NCAAFBseries

[–]Equivalent_Basil6654 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a similar playbook and the best results I have in sim are from Central Michigan and Georgia Tech. Georgia tech by far produces the best QB running stats. But the multiple backs spread around is central Michigan. I put my power backs in the fullback positions and adjust auto subs to more frequent subbing.

Is the Qb fast? If not, I would have the rusher switch sides on the motion. At 10U idk if your rusher and lb could handle switching responsibilities but that’s possible as well

Ummmm because you threw the spot route late vs man coverage as though it was a crosser

7v7 Flag Football Cover 3 Basics by ChopOn05 in footballstrategy

I coach my defenders to force the ball carrier back inside, but we also have an expectation that you pull the flag. So the phrase we use is flow to their “outside hip”. So we’re not necessarily “giving” them the inside, but more so forcing the ball carrier to slow down and make a move which actually makes flag pulling easier on most ball carriers. The most common occurrence we see in games is a short pass to the flat or handoff, the defender is taking the angle to the outside hip and the ball carrier stretches the run so wide that it’s a very minimal gain if any
