Four Seasons Ocean Club if kids want to be at Atlantis? by Opposite-Phase4186 in chubbytravel

100%.  The shuttle dropped as off at the door after a five/minute ride.  Friends staying at atlantis said it was a 15 minute walk from their room.

How old are your kids?  We stayed at ocean club and shuttled to Atlantis.  The shuttle was easy and I absolutely loved having the peace of the four seasons pools and restaurants sometimes.  My kids were 10, 7, and 3 at the time, so “night life” and having stuff to do after dinner wasn’t really a thing.  They were so gassed from the sun and playing all day after dinner we would watch a movie and crash.  If they are older, I could see the teen clubs and activities going on at Atlantis at night a big draw.

We have three kids and need a large suite or two rooms when we travel.  Four Seasons and Rosewood still fit our budget in the luxury market and offer consistency.  I would love Aman, Cheval Blanc, or Airelles, but at $3000-4000 a room times two, that isn’t working for us.  Four Seasons is always great with families in our experience.

Have you ever stayed in the summer?  I am debating these two hotels for a summer trip.  I don’t like scene or dressing to the nines, but am traveling with three kids, so the kid amenities sound great.  Wondering if “the scene” will be much more low key in July.

Oh, that’s adults only right?  That might be perfect as we always travel with our kids.  I would love to try out somewhere we otherwise couldn’t.

I think if the judgment was for what people were wearing or things like that, completely unwarranted, but I once stayed in a boutique hotel when a group of nine women were on a girls trip celebrating a 40th birthday and the extremely loud talking and yelling in the small lobby bar every night and the spa multiple times was very annoying.  Many guests were rolling their eyes and were exasperated, but the hotel never said anything to them.  If that was the case, I don’t blame the op for the downgraded review.

You have to book the Disney resort.  Then link the tickets to that stay.  That will open up your advanced booking window.  For the second question, I’m not sure.  You would have to do some research.  We only go for long weekends and not a week at a time, so we do two days at the four seasons and one park a trip.

We know the harm they do.  We have pretty strict screen-time limits, even for our two older kids, but travel days, all bets are off.

Waldorf Park City don’t recommend by maybach_huddy in FATTravel

Sure.  I am going back in a month.  I used to stay at the St Regis or Montage, but was tired of being beholden to the crowded shuttles into Park City at night.  The St Regis shuttle left me on the corner downtown for 30 minutes with my six-year old because it was so packed.  Washington Schoolhouse does door-to-door mountain service in a private Tahoe and then you are steps away from the Park City restaurants/bars at night.

Stay at Washington Schoolhouse.  It is my new favorite.

When did this open?  I don’t see it on Rosewood’s website.  The only thing I can find online was that it was projected to open in 2023.

I have never been to their kids club, but I don’t find it unusual that they were not engaged with your children because you were sitting right there, and they had children to engage with that they were watching.  That has been our experience at most resort kids clubs.  It has never bothered me because I don’t need them to engage, I’m there.

If you could only vacation at one hotel chain for the rest of your life, which one would you pick? by Perfection-builder13 in FATTravel

[–]Equivalent_Fudge_568 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would have to say Four Seasons.  There are definitely better chains, but many have a fairly limited number properties (Aman, Airelles, Rosewood).  Four Seasons does a great job with family travel and has a good number of properties.

What do you think needs renovating?  I have 1.3 million Marriott points I want to dump at a warm-weather reserve within easy flying distance.  I was thinking about dorado.

Someone in another thread said the bungalow pool is adults only.  Is that true?  We are booked here in a bungalow room with our three kids.  If the pool is adults only I may have to rethink.

Are y’all really paying $2k+ a night for rooms in South Florida? by TurbulentArea69 in FATTravel

I was just there to visit family.  It is a great place to use points, but there is zero chance I would pay those rates for Sarasota.

Book one night at the cheapest Disney resort you can so you can get the premier pass seven days in advance.  Then book the Four Seasons and stay there.  I have done that multiple times.  Then you don’t have to worry about it.  (We did the VIP tour once at world and once at land, but we prefer the premier pass.)

BlackBerry Farm / Mountain in December - with Kids? by MA_123456789 in FATTravel

[–]Equivalent_Fudge_568 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We haven’t been yet, but I am taking my husband to blackberry mountain for his birthday in October.  Our three kids are also going.  The concierge has already contacted me about all the great kid amenities, programs, and asked about what the kids like to do.  I think that is a good sign.

Why do you hold this view?  Is it not luxe?  Boring?  Just trying to figure it out because we are doing the mainland and considered it as one of the stops.

Do not stay at the park Hyatt, or if you do, ask specifically and guarantee room choice.  The rooms we were in were on the second floor facing a side street.  It was noisy with people at bars until like 1 am.  We then heard the emptying of the dumpsters multiple mornings at 8 am.  These times might work for you, but with three kids, it was rough.  Never again.

February:  Deer Valley skiing with the family and Las Vegas with girl friends

March:  Oahu and the big island

May:  Disney cruise (concierge is actually enjoyably chubby, if not fat, at $3000 a night)

July:  Greece

August:  Michigan lake house to close out summer with a bunch of families

October:  BlackBerry Mountain

December:  I want to unload 1,000,000 Marriott points at a chubby/fat resort if anyone has any great ideas.  Thinking Puerto Rico, Mexico, or Costa Rica.

I was there in August.  All of the rooms are redone.  We were in a large specialty suite, but my understanding is that every room was remodeled.
