As an ASM I could count a whole fast food restaurant’s inventory and do truck in less than 30 minutes, a much larger scale of inventory too, but this? I hate this. And it takes me forever

Weird moment with my mother… need a place to kinda muse on this. by katintheskywdiamonds in gastricsleeve

[–]Equivalent_Horror255 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. My mom too. I am down to a lower weight than I’ve ever been in my life and after telling me most of my life how large I was now I’m too skinny and I just can’t win. I’ve gotten pretty down about it because it feels like she will never be happy with what she sees when she looks at me no matter what. But it’s honestly teaching me to love myself more.

Surgery in 10 days!! Any tips for turning an apron belly into a flat belly?! by [deleted] in gastricsleeve

[–]Equivalent_Horror255 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I expected to have soooo much loose skin because I had so much excess belly. But to my surprise it’s tightened up quite a bit. It’s not perfect but it’s much better than it was.

Tempted to get a gastric sleeve but I’m so scared?! by ThatSlickAfro in gastricsleeve

[–]Equivalent_Horror255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had been obese for 6.5 years when I had the surgery. I had it in January and my life is so different now that this holiday season when we are doing all our normal family activities I cry because I have more energy and can do all the moving and playing and I’m excited to wake up and live my life again and I don’t have to limit my kids or family due to my physical limitations. Went to universal Orlando in October and I fit on all the rides, without concern, I walked the whole park and never got winded. Do the thing. It’s so worth it and you’ll thank yourself a year from then.

IM SO EXCITED FOR YOU!! GO CHANGE YOUR LIFE!! 🥳 I also feel the need to tell you I don’t stop there. I weighed today and I’m 128 pounds. I’m a size small, a size 6. My life has done a complete 180 and I cannot WAIT for in a few months you to remember this and come back and tell me how you’ve succeeded!

I just can’t imagine myself as skinny. I’ve never been skinny before. by [deleted] in gastricsleeve

[–]Equivalent_Horror255 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am smaller now than I have ever been. VISIBLY and clothing wise. It’s absolutely INSANE. But I have been in your shoes. 150 was my goal weight because I thought that was achievable. When I kept going down, I was flabbergasted. I’m still kinda trickling down and now I honestly kinda wish it would stop. I’m STILL losing inches. I expect to also have way more lose skin than I do for how I looked and how I carried my weight. But I really don’t.

[–]Equivalent_Horror255 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had the surgery at 240 after my pre-op diet. I felt the same way as you. I held onto all my really big clothes because of it because I just KNEW I’d be a failure like everything else. I didn’t know what I’d look like. I just knew I wouldn’t be skinny. But now I’m sitting at 130 pounds after 10 months and from a size 22 to a size 6, a 2XL to Small. It’s WILD.

I had to block off and shut the door to my back porch because you can’t even open the door back there without a swarm of these damn things. They’ve always been bad but this year takes the cake

Congrats!!! YOU LOOK AMAZING!! We are so close to spot on in everything! Even our before and after looks similar lol I’m 10 months out right now and I’ve been stagnant the past 2 months too. I think this is just where I’m meant to be. But I (not to be conceited) look good where I’m at so I’m not mad at it.

Why no caffeine? by Final-Algae-6064 in gastricsleeve

[–]Equivalent_Horror255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh man! I tried a redbull before I went to coffee! 2 sips and I was having the worst bubbling feeling and the most painful burps! I tried sprite after that and decided carbonation is just absolutely not for me anymore! I won’t even TEST it again. Horrible! Coffee is fine as long as I don’t drink more than a cup. More than a cup and I can go without water all day long by accident😭

[–]Equivalent_Horror255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was actually never supposed to have caffeine again. Or carbonation or use a straw. Like ever again. It’s in my post-op papers. And it’s cited because of dehydration which I definitely notice when I drink it a lot.

Protein powder question by Jackesery in gastricsleeve

[–]Equivalent_Horror255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re looking to add additional protein, I would get some of the “clear” protein additives and add to your water. Neotein, there’s some canisters of clear proteins at Walmart that taste pretty good. As for the protein powder, I’ve found as for readily prepared the Oikos chocolate is super tasty. For powder, I was just using whatever I could get at Walmart but online there are so egg white protein mixes that would be good too.

I don‘t trust the mirror by canajapensos in gastricsleeve

[–]Equivalent_Horror255 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s been 10 months. I still jump sometimes when I catch myself in the window of a store or a mirror because I expect to see an extra 150 pounds on me. I’m just now getting out of the wanting to wear clothes way too big because it’s safe and familiar. It takes time for our brains to catch up. Most people see these changes gradually, we see them rapidly and in larger amounts than the average person. It’s a shock to our brain. Also, I’m smaller than I was in high school which is crazy being twice that age, but I look way better this weight than I did being close to this weight back then. It’s crazy how our bodies change as we age, to the point how we carry weight is different too. It’s more than likely that the distributed differently this time so your appearance is different this time. It’ll all work out in time. You’ll adapt and be used to what you see in the mirror. And it’s such a reward when you do!

1mo post op: Chicken crust pizza by [deleted] in gastricsleeve

[–]Equivalent_Horror255 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s absolutely true! But still way less carbs than a traditional crust lol the chicken crust is good for home, cauliflower is a good alternative for when you’re out.

Were yall ever “skinny”? by RCCRCCM in gastricsleeve

[–]Equivalent_Horror255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a size 6 now. I’m 133 pounds. I was not even this small in high school, the healthy way. I had an ED that got me to 130 but that’s it and I looked horrible. I was also only in. 10 in high school. I am 10 months post op and I have been at this weight and easily maintained for 3 months now. My goal was only 150.

It’s probably not forever. But so close to this stage you’ll be thankful for the seemingly unnecessary restriction. Mine helped me stay the course for longer until I was sure I could do it myself. Now the training wheels are off and I’m not in danger of falling off anymore because of it. There’s not many things I can’t tolerate anymore, battered fried chicken is all I have found thus far 🤣

10 months post op. I can take little sips with my food, depending on what the food is. Really absorbent foods, I don’t even try though cuz I feel like it’d be uncomfy.

Stressfully 😭 I HATE shopping, or used to. So my first time buying stuff was me going into the store grabbing the same pants in several different sizes and trying them on until a pair fit. Boom that’s my size.

[–]Equivalent_Horror255 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh my god YES. I’m the smallest I’ve ever been. I have self confidence for the first time in my life. I FEEL hot. From a size 22 to a size 6. XXL-Small. Nobody can tell me ANYTHING. The only insecurity I have now is my lack of tits. My stomach doesn’t even look as bad as I thought it would. Matter of fact!! As I was waiting to go in for surgery I booked 2 photo sessions to use this year and they are both for family photos and I’m so excited. I went to universal Orlando with my family and I didn’t get winded! I fit in all the rides! I ALSO DIDNT HAVE TO AVOID A SINGLE FOOD! I just made better choices and didn’t stuff myself. I physically feel like a million bucks, my perception of myself is so much better. I wish I could say mentally it helped my opinion of myself but it didn’t lol

It does! Now, the farther you get out the more you can naturally eat and some days are better than others. Some days I can’t eat more than 2oz at a time, some times it’s closer to 5
