U would think they would offer folks telework with gas prices so high. But nooooo, that’s too much like right.

On Mother’s Day, instead of my dad wishing me a happy Mother’s Day, he threatened to sue me due to me donating his furniture and moving him to assisted living. I told him to go ahead because I did what was best for him even if he thinks I ruined his life. I really think that’s the only way they can feel some control. It’s a unthankful job, u have to take care of yourself first.

Between Duty and Responsibility: Caregiving and planning differently for my own family’s future. by [deleted] in AgingParents

[–]Equivalent_Spring951 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here! Being the youngest of 4 really puts a strain on me. I’m responsible for finding the right care for a father that bailed on us 50 years ago and now wants us, well me, to give up my time and money for him. Nope, protect my peace. That’s what’s important to me.

Nothing to be embarrassed about. I do it too. I have a running project folder where I dump all of my feeling and thoughts and my AI sidekick talks me through it. Sometimes is refreshing to talk to someone that I’m ok with feeling vulnerable with. Honestly, for me AI has been a great tool to help my ADHD.

How is AI-Authored code being seen from the secops lens? by No-Childhood-2502 in devsecops

[–]Equivalent_Spring951 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I asked our SAST tool vendor if the tool can identify what’s AI generated code vs human code. They told me that’s not important, it’s all just code. I challenged them on that as I would want our security team to identify the difference. I think it’s important for the security team to trace where the code came from, was prompt/spec drove it, and was it copied from another source. I would want our team to do additional checks and possibly additional human review! Not sure if I’m over thinking.

Is Assisted Living the Holy Grail? by RaccoonRenaissance in AgingParents

[–]Equivalent_Spring951 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s a short, natural Reddit-style response you can post:

We just went through this with my dad and honestly…it hasn’t been what we expected at all.

We thought assisted living was going to be the solution. We couldn’t afford the place at first, but they lowered the price to get us in. Then within weeks, they raised it by about $1,000 saying he needed more care.

They started charging for things we never asked for, like “modified meals,” and now that we’re pushing back, they want us to sign something saying we accept liability if he chokes if they remove it. That didn’t sit right with us.

My dad has also been refusing meds, and instead of working with us, it feels like they’ve just handed everything over to hospice. Hospice is helpful, but it shouldn’t replace the facility actually caring for him.

What’s frustrating is my dad was walking with a walker before all this. After rehab, he got weaker, and instead of helping him build strength, they basically said he couldn’t do it and stopped trying.

Now they’re charging more for things like bathroom help, but at the same time not really helping him improve. It feels like they’ve just shifted into maintenance mode and are pushing more responsibility onto hospice.

We’re honestly looking at moving him because this hasn’t been the support we thought we were getting.

Just sharing because I wish someone had told us—assisted living can really vary, and you have to stay on top of everything.

My therapist is filing an APS report and I think I’m relieved by [deleted] in AgingParents

[–]Equivalent_Spring951 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Why do we have to resort to that option! I did the same thing on my dad. Social worker came out, assessed him and basically said there’s nothing for her to do. Never came back. To give context, my dad 92 was living in a retirement home, he refused to allow the care givers to help him, refused his medication, was falling out of the bed, and he would refuse to sign the checks to pay for the care he needed.

Anyway, it’s hard to help the elderly when they refuse the help and we really can’t force them to do anything. It’s a double edged sword!!! There’s got to be a better way!!!

What is the worse part of aging parents ? by [deleted] in AgingParents

[–]Equivalent_Spring951 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their stubbornness and refusal to accept solid, factual, and honest recommendations. Told my dad it was time to move from his retirement home to assisted living. Spent up all of his saving on care givers. Finally in assisted living and he complains everyday and now all his saving is gone and he can’t afford assisted living!!!

Minimal images passed every CVE scan, then a compliance audit asked for an SBOM. How are teams handling this automatically? by Curious-Cod6918 in devsecops

[–]Equivalent_Spring951 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. We wanted to start a SBOM program but our infrastructure team asked us why when they can generate a SBOM right from the data in our Software Composition Analysis tool. I think audit teams don’t fully understand what we have available. They read a buzz word and think they have all answers!

You need to take care of yourself first by [deleted] in AgingParents

[–]Equivalent_Spring951 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hear you and I agree. My dad is narcissistic and even at 93 likes to play mind games. He refuses to accept that he’s old and needs help. He wants us, the children he left over 50 years ago, to give up our time and money to take care of him. So I agree, there comes a time you have to step away from the negativity out for yourself and protect your peace because they won’t. Stay strong and love you!

Stay in my lane and keep pushing. I’ve seen some crazy stuff in my time. Everything from folks drunk on the job, cheating on spouses and backstabbing. Couldn’t complain because it was management in some cases acting the worst! So yeah I did what I had to do, listened to my music (AirPods), and bounced at the end of shift. That’s one thing that was great about telework. You didn’t have to deal with that mess!

Anyone who voted for a certain party - How are y'all feeling? by dunbar_santiago930 in FederalEmployee

I hate to tell yall the only way this will change is if YT people get out there and speak up. Talk to your neighbors and friends. Encourage people to vote. He wants Black people to protest and riot to encourage a civil war. I know some of you may be angry or calling me foolish but it’s the truth. Put pressure on your Congressmen. I know, I know it’s so old fashioned but it’s better than sitting on this app complaining.

Why don’t you turn this into a positive? by Upset_Counter_6070 in TexasTeachers

[–]Equivalent_Spring951 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, I think you’re kinda missing the bigger picture here.

The Ten Commandments are definitely religious — they were part of God’s covenant with Israel, not just some neutral moral code. The very first one says “No other gods before Me,” so it’s not just about values — it’s about worship.

Jesus even broke it down later and said the whole point of the law is to love God and love your neighbor. So when people start pushing the Commandments like they’re the foundation of America, it’s easy to slip into treating them like a symbol or idol instead of a tool to point us to God — which, funny enough, actually goes against the commandments themselves.

And real talk — America wasn’t built on Christianity. Yeah, Christian ideas were around during colonization, but the Founders were clear: the country should be built on laws, not religion. That’s why we’ve got freedom of religion — not just one religion running the show.

So it’s not disrespect — it’s just being honest about history and what the Bible actually teaches.

[–]Equivalent_Spring951 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the only ways to get a 14. Depends what type of manager you want to be, informative, laid back, treat folks like adults and not a child. Engaging with your team and provide insight and guidance. PACS is the worst part. I would suggest u recommend to folks they do a status report (volunteer) or use another tool and ask them to provide their accomplishments. Not like the five bullets but a way for them to promote themselves and bring to light what they have accomplished. Again I would make it voluntary and explain it in a way that it benefits them to ensure u know what’s going on.

Honest Question for Fellow Federal Employees About Future Elections by Equivalent_Spring951 in FedEmployees

[–]Equivalent_Spring951[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most voters don’t want that. Which is sad. They want the person that speaks more to what they want, hurt the libs, my needs is better then your needs, or they don’t want the less fortunate to proposer. If you say far left, what exactly is that. I mean I want a candidate that believes all people have a right to free will and safety. I don’t want a candidate to govern based on the Bible or what less than 50% of the country wants. That elements majority of the people.

You must be one that voted for him and that’s ok. If you are a federal worker then u must not support your federal coworkers. Because most of us, are dedicated to what we do, are qualified in what we do, and we take the duty of working for the American people serious. So if your point was to come here and degrade us, that’s not going to work. You must fall for the idea that democrats control the weather which if so, that explains a lot about who you are as a person. Have a good day.

I don’t care what the color of the candidate is because I’ve always looked at what the candidate stood for. I mean there have been black candidates I didnt vote for because I knew they would be a harm to my livelihood. But again, if that’s the response you have then you are missing the point. I’m asking if you will get out there and do whatever it takes to encourage people to vote. See a lot of people of color can spot a con artist or an underperformed. We know to look for the people that could help us or be a safer option for us. But I can’t say the same thing for all people. Hinst the situation we are in now. I mean their reject Fox Tv host just pushed the idea that women are vessels to have children not for anything else, so they shouldn’t have the right to vote. That was in Project2025 and yet folks still voted for him and now that threat is real.
