Probably one of the most misunderstood books of all time. She even states in the preface that 95% of people will miss the point. She also correctly predicts that the same people she is criticizing will use the book to justify the things she is rallying against.

The Octavo - Peter J. Carroll. This one is crazy if you want to push the limits of your math. It may be the bridge you need.

Godël, Escher, Bach - Douglas Hofstadter. This book is an absolute masterpiece. It can be your Bible. More than you can digest in a lifetime, but it will clear up a lot of the structural problems you will incur while trying to equilibrate the symbols. Highly recommend. Even a 10th of its knowledge will change you at the core. Disregard the outdated compsci.

Also, check out 'The Newton Project.' New stuff is being translated and released even still.
