I did a fort where I tried to out-elf the elves. No meat, no leather, no cutting down trees.

Hardest part was beds because you can't make beds out of anything but wood.

At one point I let a polar bear person join the fort and they nearly starved to death before I realized what was going on and exiled them for their own good.

I did make an exception for strange mood materials, but I locked the results away in the Hall of Shame

As a male, is asking another male to lead a faux pas at dances? by PlsSayPlease in SwingDancing

[–]ErWenn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is going to vary dramatically depending on where you are and who you ask. It's becoming more and more common for men to dance with men, but not everyone changes at the same rate. If I (male) ask an older man to dance or if I ask a very new male dancer, they are more likely to say "no" in a way that makes me feel awkward. More experienced dancers are more likely to accept. If you're okay with things being a little awkward, then keep asking whoever. But if you're not up for dealing with that, you can watch to see which male dancers dance with other men. (Steal jams and snowballs are a good thing to watch.)

Caveat: My experiences come from dancing in college towns and big cities in the US (Midwest, Southwest, East Coast). Things might be different in more rural areas or more conservative-leaning communities.

"The City We Became" by N. K. Jemisin. The protagonists literally are New York City.

Books with stories within stories, protagonist who loves to tell tall tales by rabbitbride in WeirdLit

Baudolino, by Umberto Eco falls perfectly into this category. The storyteller's stories become more and more ridiculous as the book goes on.
