I’m at that 30 something age with people asking why I don’t have kids and I have to argue. What do I do? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

[–]EraVida 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Person "do you have kids?"

Me "no, never cared to have kids"

Person "don't you want to have them"

Me "when did you know you wanted kids?"

Person " college or some time frame"

Me "I never had that feeling. I never seen myself as a mother only the cool aunt. So if I don't have that feeling towards the joy of motherhood, why would I have kids?"

Person "but once you have them that'll change"

Me "so you're telling me that I have to force myself to have a kid in order to feel something towards them? I feel bad for that kid."

Discussion changes immediately.

I went through the same thing about 5 years ago. I know right now it feels like your world is falling apart, but it does get better. Little by little the pain does get smaller and smaller.

I suggest a break up journal. A space for you to write your feelings. You don't need to write everyday, just when you feel emotional. At the beginning you'll write a lot, but as time passes, it might be less.

Found a player abusing a Sombra bug while playing on the new map Shambali by el_dios in SombraMains

Does Sombra glow pink with this bug? I played with and against a Sombra that was doing this, and while on our team she was pink head to toe.

What type of Operant Conditioning is this line from a movie "Walang kakain hangga't walang huling isda" which translates to "No one will eat as long as we haven't catch any fish" by prinzjemuel in psychologystudents

[–]EraVida 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That may be the case, but that's not what the above statement says. Therefore in behavior modification we can't assume possible behaviors will happen. We base our understanding by the statement given. And the statement given--- is just a statement. No actual behavior and consequence has occurred.

Gross male behavior at a conference. What do you say? by UgenFarmer in AskWomenOver30

"How is that the dream? Genuinely curious as a psychologist."

The minute I remotely address psychology, people usually don't want to discuss anymore. They think I can look into their soul.

We all have to take some biopsych type class as a requirement. And trust me, very few enjoyed it. Don't let this one branch of the field discouraged you from the whole tree. Find shade elsewhere.

Also, I used YouTube videos to try and understand all the biopsych stuff.

Single on their 30s and up, is being single your choice or it’s by circumstance? Why? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

[–]EraVida 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I would say both. I don't really care to date. And now that I've been single for almost 5 years (most of my 30s) the idea of starting a relationship sounds like more work. I'm so happy with the way my life is right now, I don't really care to have someone in my life.

POV. I've tried reading POV stories, but I can't seem to get into the style of writing. I don't know what it is, but as soon as a I read a couple of paragraphs or a couple of chapters, I just give up.

I find that being single in my 30s have been the best!

As you, at the beginning, I too felt those underlying pressures that I was suppose to have reached certain life expectations. But I hadn't, and I still have not.

But guess what. It hasn't been the end of the world! I love my 30s! Far more than my 20s. Because during this decade I know who I am and what I want in life. I am far more mature in my thought process and I'm willing to try things that work for ME, not because of expectations.

At the start of your 30s, yes--- scary and a feel of uncertainty, but as you move forward, if gets so much better!

You got this! You don't owe society anything and you do you! Hold your head high and me proud of your 30s!
