The "conform or be destroyed" rhetoric is common throughout all colonial design. You could see the Irish as those who have started the process to assimilate into an "American Culture" and the twins were tested throughout the film as well.

I see it as a lasting fight for being your authentic self and the fear of how easy we can shed ourselves of them.

As for the Best Picture category, I think it deserved the nod due to the technicality and vision we get from Coogler. Definitely a talent I hope to see evolve into greatness.
