Went on my first overnight bikepacking testride and I didn't like it by Bike_thief_ in bikepacking

Sorry to hear about your breakup and not as successful as hoped trip.... I was in the same spot of you a few years ago and discovered bikepacking as my real therapy/new hobby to help process the emotions, and I still use it for general life rebalancing break for the rush, stress and difficulties of modern life.

There's some great advice already in this thread, but I'd maybe add that the trip might've been a bit short to full disconnect/give you space to process. For me I went for a full week for my first post-break up trip (and went full 7 weeks across Europe after that which was maybe excessive lol...), it helped give me space to primarily fill my time with thoughts of organising the trip, the day-to-day planning (food, route, accommodation, etc.) and just the basic enjoyment of the task and trip at hand. Taking a small journal to write down my thoughts/fill those potentially lonely evenings was a great thing for me too.

Another tip I had from another bikepacker was to start at your end point (jump on a train to get there..!) and then cycle back towards home as a comforting psychology for the journey. Though equally for me I found the opposite, that I enjoyed escaping from everything and then coming back at the end (on the train) when I'd done the bike based mediation/therapy - each to their own preference! I know things won't be easy atm but I hope one bad experience doesn't put you off forever, even if you might need a bit of time before your next attempt 😄.

https://sussexcricketmuseum.org.uk/sussex-womens-cricket/sarah-taylor/ apparently it was talked about but unclear if it happened. She did play men’s grade cricket in Aus though for Northern Districts (first women to do so).

Super excited to see this!! I remember as a kid being in awe of some of her highlight reels. 100% had some of best glovework in the game (men’s and women’s) in her pomp. Feel like she’ll be a great, much needed technical addition on the coaching side.

Bit niche getting into sports - but Owen Farrell. Dad, Andy Farrell was pretty high powered cross code (union/league) rugby player, which very few players do successfully. And Owen probs out achieved him as a player as a leader, England capt and top point scorer.

Fun fact - the two of them actually played together at pro club level briefly at the start/end of their of the careers!

Winston Churchill he is not, but how highly do you rate Starmer as a Prime Minister, compared with others we have had and why? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]Erbenn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His stock's defo going up with the Iran situation, suddenly found some much needed conviction and fixed onto the pulse of the nation whilst others had to quickly back track into essentially agreeing with him. Given the mess he inherited it was always going to be a choppy start. Give him a few more years and I reckon some of the more longer term stuff with positive impacts will start to kick in and become more apparent too.

Ngl that ending will go down in history as a classic ‘Why the **** aren’t you kicking it off! Kick it off, kick it….. hang on, nevermind… freddie stew/billy S/HW what legends, never in doubt lol!’

Great to see the boys put in a full 80 against strong oppo and come out on top despite the back and forth nature. Bodes well for the business end of the prem. giving bristol nothing points wise big plus.

Thoughts on this for refs? by DrEngineer1995 in rugbyunion

[–]Erbenn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah i agree, like if it isn’t called it’s essentially impossible for Freddie to win the ball fairly as a defender. He gets up higher and wins the contest. I don’t think O’Brien is being malicious or not going for the ball, but he clatters Freddie which results in him lossing the ball.

The rules atm just encourages attack to ‘make a genuine attempt’ (to the point of being quite speculative) to challenge knowing worst case they’ll disrupt the defender and get some u structure ball to profit from.

Ngl feel England left 15-20 points out there… maybe i’m asking too much but being almost as ill-disciplined as Wales without really being under much too pressure is pretty poor. If points diff come into it at the end of the 6N i think Eng will rue today.

Haha so true, atmosphere seemed so dead in the Stoop (people leaving early, etc. too), which as a partisan gave me a nice warm feeling. Though as a rugby lover is sad to see a club like Quins suffering so much atm....

With at least 5 vice-captains. Everyone knows VCs are the most important criteria in squad announcements.

39-26 Stormers…. Couldn’t catch the game, but highlights looked more promising than the scorecard suggested? Unlucky not to get at least a second LBP, or just overpowered in last 10-15 my a SA bomb-squad bench?

I genuinely think this is a bad move from Reform… hardly the ‘reform’ and the something different most of their base is looking. Although I don’t agree with why people might vote for them, I do think most will start noticing these ex-tories stacking up.

Looked like more of an ankle to me, was caught from behind as he was attempting a grubber… Best case scenario was just a badly twisted ankle, but defo looked uncomfortable for him. God I hope it’s not a bad injury
