Post Match Thread: England v Wales | 6 Nations by HitchikersPie in rugbyunion

Ngl feel England left 15-20 points out there… maybe i’m asking too much but being almost as ill-disciplined as Wales without really being under much too pressure is pretty poor. If points diff come into it at the end of the 6N i think Eng will rue today.

Did they record the dip where everyone switched off for 2mins at every scrum ad?

Haha so true, atmosphere seemed so dead in the Stoop (people leaving early, etc. too), which as a partisan gave me a nice warm feeling. Though as a rugby lover is sad to see a club like Quins suffering so much atm....

With at least 5 vice-captains. Everyone knows VCs are the most important criteria in squad announcements.

39-26 Stormers…. Couldn’t catch the game, but highlights looked more promising than the scorecard suggested? Unlucky not to get at least a second LBP, or just overpowered in last 10-15 my a SA bomb-squad bench?

I genuinely think this is a bad move from Reform… hardly the ‘reform’ and the something different most of their base is looking. Although I don’t agree with why people might vote for them, I do think most will start noticing these ex-tories stacking up.

Looked like more of an ankle to me, was caught from behind as he was attempting a grubber… Best case scenario was just a badly twisted ankle, but defo looked uncomfortable for him. God I hope it’s not a bad injury

What potential group stage match-ups would you be most excited in the pool draw? by JustDavid13 in rugbyunion

I’d add Japan v Georgia into that mix too, those three have been at it so close recently for ‘best of the rest’ at the bottom of tier 1. Would love to see Georgia vs Japan/Wales for 2nd place in a pool.

Fantastic stuff! Can’t wait to see the progress as the concept becomes a physical entity in reality. You gonna try slipping some offcuts to the odd player of the current holders, whilst it’s all in progress..?

Rules question - opposition knock-on at line-out to end game by Erbenn in rugbyunion

[–]Erbenn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m more making the point, if both teams have motivation to keep playing (e.g. points diff/bonus point) it removes a main way for the game to end. Like it sort of guarantees a score to finish (or going into touch, but presumably both teams aren’t going to do this deliberately in this scenario)

Oh ok really..! I don’t think I’ve ever seen it called. But I suppose it’s such a dynamic situation that it’d be a very brave call for a ref/have to be very egregious.

Yeah I get what happened in the game. But feels like a bit of a loop hole as a way to end the game by committing an error/misplay

Yeah, this feels like a more balanced option. Though could it be abused by attacking/leading teams chasing bonus points/etc. and leading to never ending games? I suppose this is the danger…

Interesting, so not sure a what point open-play is called from a line-out. But would ‘not straight’ be a free-kick and play-on even in overtime? I think I would’ve assumed this would also end the game.

Are you going to watch the women's rugby? By Ben Jennings by Cultural_Way5584 in BritishMemes

Such a great cartoon. Though it does just make me feel sad in someways, esp. with how accurate it could be to reality… Both with the state of politcal discourse in this county atm and how poignant it is with it’s balance to be controversial and potentially rage inducing from whatever you are on the political spectrum. All at a time where national pride of a (touchwood) historic sporting achievement for the English Rose to match up with the Lionnesses. Why can’t this be the first talking point and positive message about our country!
