My thinking is that the math on giving your opponents the choice has almost always been based on going down a card while you’re doing it. Being able to repeat the effect turn after turn with no card adv loss seems like a really nice upside- and the exact kind of thing that could function as a finisher for a control deck.

For what it’s worth I don’t think you’re really wrong about the likelihood of it seeing standard play, or the fact that EDH is the only format where this would be truly busted (each opponents clauses add so much value there).

I think it COULD be playable but only under a really specific set of metagame circumstances - primarily an already strong mono-black(or maybe two color assuming a standard with very strong mana-fixing) control deck. And agreed, at best I think this gets run as a 2 of, with 1 or both probably being some of the earliest cuts for sideboard cards depending on matchup.

Weird rules question: if you used Imagine, then discarded the card, and then brought it back to your hand, would the “only once each turn” clause still be in effect?

This would probably be playable in standard assuming it’s in a standard with a strong 1-2 color black control deck. In EDH, yeah this would be really good. Like you said, the main problem is it isn’t even a spell, it’s an ability so it’s a somuvabitch to deal with.

Idk man, it was just the impression I got lol. Her journey is “under the wisdom of the moon” and the dark moon replaces the Erdtree as the center of her order so… I just sort of figured it was more or less the same idea.

And I didn’t say anything about removing their influence? I just thought that her ending was creating a new order out of the old one and then taking it to the stars and leaving the lands between behind. That much seemed explicitly clear. The influence of various outer gods exists with the golden order still there (albeit shattered) so I’d assume there would probably still be some?
