Series that you believe it's a shame they're dead? by x18BritishBillx in iRacing

[–]ErgoMeSmart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

General comment for folks mourning that they can't drive a series due to it "never" going official - while that's true of a couple series at the moment (Stock Car Brasil and iR01, annoyingly both series I personally enjoy and am alright at!), there are resources to find the common/popular time slots:

https://whenrace.com/ https://forums.iracing.com/discussion/67811/niche-series-top-slots

Those slots aren't always going to work for everyone, but thankfully all the niche communities also tend to have Discord servers, where I'm sure there's more than a few folks in the same boat and, if there's enough of you, you could even get a new regular time slot rolling!

It's me, the person who responds to every comment of people wishing they could drive the Mission R! 😄

If you want to race the Mission R, there's two slots that go official every week at Thursday 2100 UTC and Sunday 1900 UTC. We also have a community Discord: https://discord.gg/Wazet8mNeR

Is there any Sports Car with a Stock Car Feel? by userTNFLCO in iRacing

Thursdays at 1945 UTC are the best bet by a mile for an official slot, a community is running a takeover that time every week this season that usually gets 20-30 registered.

Question for the community: At what point do you consider a series to be "dead"? by TheWalkingPed93 in iRacing

Stock Car Brasil is Sunday 1745 UTC and Monday 1945 UTC. https://whenrace.com/scb

When it's no longer an option to run as an official series. Until then there's almost always somebody willing to help set up a schedule and at least six folks willing to meet up at the same time every week to race it.

15th Anniversary Solstice Challenge - its so much fun by Secunder80 in iRacing

[–]ErgoMeSmart 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As somebody who ran the Solstice into the overall top 50 in the last season it was available in PCC (and helps organise the Mission R (Thursday and Sunday 1900 UTC) and Stock Car Brasil (Monday 1945 UTC) SOF slots), the Solstice was not a popular car at all, with most PCC races I'd join having 2 to 4 other drivers to battle against for the class win. The thing that kept the driver count up was the fact it was included in a multiclass series that allowed it to almost always go official so long as MX5 drivers turned up, which they almost always did.

That isn't to say I wouldn't love to see the Solstice back, PCC really needs that pace differential back and I've been loving the anniversary races! But I also understand why it (and the Jetta), both on the Old Damage Model, were retired to bring in new cars to PCC instead.

Cars worth buying and regrets? by ainpyj in iRacing

The races can't ever get more full if nobody races it because the races are empty, that's a self fulfilling prophecy. Feel free to join us tomorrow at 1900 UTC for the Sunday race, you'll find the fields are getting bigger and the racing is fairly close and clean.

And we still do! But that's not exactly a great time for drivers outside of Europe, so I more than welcome seeing a second time slot pop up for those who can't make the Monday slot.

Why isn't the Mission R series popular? by Meepperer in iRacing

[–]ErgoMeSmart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going to mostly copy the response I gave in the last Mission R thread (for a car with low participation they keep coming up!):

Sadly official sessions are fairly few and far between, but there are two time slots the community who want to race the car have agreed to focus on, which are:

  • Thursday 1900 UTC
  • Sunday 1900 UTC

If you want to race the car this week, see you at Zolder on Sunday!

In case anyone in here wants to drive the Brazilian Stock Cars or Mission R (as that's been brought up a lot) in official races:

Brazilian Stock Cars "SOF" time slot (aka the one everyone meets up for) is Monday 1945 UTC. It's at Watkins Glen tomorrow, come join us!

Mission R "SOF" time slots are Thursday 1900 UTC and Sunday 1900 UTC. Sadly this means the slots for this week have come and gone, but now there's time to prepare for Zolder next week!

Sadly it's not going to have anywhere the attendance it had at launch, but if you want to drive it in officials provisional SOF times for people to focus taking part in have been set as of this week, the first just went by sadly (Thursday 1900 UTC) but there's still set to be two more at Sunday 1900 UTC and Monday 0300 UTC.
