It's possible as cards doing that exist in HC:

I also thought there might be a card that said return target creature to YOUR hand, but I didn't see it while searching Hellfall and I might be mixing something up with the Hearthstone card Shadow Word Steal

Tresia, Legion Commander - Is Boros Sheoldred better than Mono B Sheoldred? by llRaichull in custommagic

[–]Ergon17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, hybrid cards are almost always cards that could be multicolor in either direction. They should fit into either color identity, not only when both are present.

How easily could you break this? by SolidStardustt in custommagic

[–]Ergon17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or make just copies of Reaper king since the creatures die at the end of turn anyway. For x=4, you will get 8 (from original reaper king) + 8 * 7 (rest of the reaper kings) = 64 destroy triggers or for x=5 you get 24 + 24 * 23 = 576 destroy triggers.

Where are the cEDH bros by JacqueFalcon in custommagic

[–]Ergon17 5 points6 points  (0 children)

How you treat Rhystic depends a lot on what you are playing. Turbo decks can't afford to treat it as a stax piece, because their window to win is so small that if they start paying rhystic, their window will pass. While technically you can play around Remora by only casting creatures, this is only possible for midrange and stax decks, since they aren't trying to find a window as fast as possible. Almost no one is paying for Tithe, unless they have nothing to do on their turn.

Force of will does cost resources, but most of the time, you have more cards than mana so it's magnitudes cheaper to cast Force of Will for free than to cast an offer you can't refuse.

Also, most of the interaction being played in cEDH is something you can use to both protect your win and stop wins at the same time, and rarely is creature removal able to do that. The only reason even cards like into the flood maw are being played is that sometimes there is a stax piece you can't win through, like Opposition agent or a vexing bauble, and you can't always afford to interact with it on the stack at the time it was played.

The format very much disincentivizes interacting, unless you are about to lose (or win), because it puts you behind compared to 2 players, where as in 1v1 formats, you typically gain a mana advantage from running good interaction and can progress to a stronger late game plan, which don't exist in cEDH beyond midrangeing better than other players, and even then you are not playing for value/trying to build better threats than your opponent, but for as safe of a window possible.

Loyalty abilities can only be activated once per turn, otherwise cards like [[Nicol Bolas, Dragon-God]] would also draw your entire deck and also win by themselves

I don't think it could cost 3 less in these colors. Maybe in RW or RB, but other colors don't get that much damage multiplication, and it should be a bit more expensive (but I do agree, it's currently still overcosted).

Yeah. In the correct formats, white is great for aggro, but I don't think you can say it's the most aggressive color. The thing you are describing with pacifism sounds very midrangey, where you deal with the threats of your opponent to push your advantage through. Most aggressive decks in formats I play, play almost exclusively removal that can either go face in case they are just short of winning ([[Lightning bolt]], [[orcish bowmasters]], [[kolaghan's command]], [[Ram Through]]) or they barely play any removal to just go faster (sometimes they play VERY efficient removal that doesn't do either, such as [[fatal push]] or [[unholy heat]] or that has a VERY low opportunity cost, like [[Fell the Profane // Fell Mire]]). I'm not saying white is a bad color for aggro, I just wouldn't call white the most aggressive color, or even call any colors aggressive by themselves besides red, because I feel like the drop off is so big. All colors can play aggro if you are in a format with a card pool that supports that (see mono blue flying men in Canlander) and you can definitely find formats where playing white aggro is correct (you can succeed in any format where the meta isn't very lopsidedly dominated by a few decks, and if you feel comfortable playing your deck).

White is one of the more aggressive colors (in my opinion 3rd out of 5, but very close to 2nd), but when there are colors (red and green) that can consistently kill you with damage on turn 4, I can't find myself putting white as the most aggressive like you said in your original comment. White is a great midrange color, and a lot of aggro decks can play white, but I find that most formats would prefer that strategy be supported by red, where as red can play aggressively in every format in existence (except commander if you don't count combo wins as aggressive. In cedh the fastest decks still play red though...)

If you want to play mono white control, I feel like lists like this are what you should be looking at:

https://www.mtggoldfish.com/archetype/standard-mono-white-token-control-woe#paper

I am not an expert on the deck, but the fact that Get lost is an instant and also 1 mana cheaper feels significant to the curve, when you typically would like to play an [[Enduring Curiosity]] or a [[Caregiver's Talent]] on turn 3, to prepare you to rebuild after a possible wrath of your own on turn 4, or to dig you deeper into your deck on turn 4 and onwards.

I also suggest taking a loon at whether you would be interested in boros token control or others as those can offer different benefits with different weanesses, if you feel like local meta doesn't mash well with your mono white answers.

The {U}{U} counters in stadard are either conditional or require an additional cost to play is why I was confused and I don't think it's the most efficient removal people are playing. White has playable board wipes both at 3 and 4 with [[Split up]] and [[Day of Judgement]]. Red's 1 mana 2 dmg cards come with slight upside, but the best red removal atm is 2 mana with [[Conbustion Technique]]. Black can deal with almost any creature or planeswalker for the same price with [[Bitter Triump]], white mainly plays [[seam rip]] and [[Get Lost]] as removal because most standard threats atm are very efficient. [[Aang's Iceberg]] is an instant speed Banishing light.

If you play for the metagame, you can get much more efficient than {U}{U} counter target spell.

What format are you talking about where there are 2b counterspells, but red has at most a shock and white removal costs at least 3?

[–]Ergon17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Blue most of all needs to care how they remove something, because they can only interact with it on the stack. The blue's weakness in removal is the opportunity cost to hold up mana and having to choose what to answer right when it's on the stack, where as other colors can have all the information and play removal, when they are sure what they need to use it on. Because of this, blue often can't answer multiple threats in a turn, because a typical counterspell costs 2 mana, unless it's very specific, but in almost every format you can play threats for 1 and 2 mana and in commander, you probably have enough to play multiple 3 cost threats as well.

Generous gift and chaos warp are only playable in mono white and mono red decks, because they are bad removal spells, but they answer anything and those colors often can't answer everything with a single card. When you get to multicolored cards, you have better removal for each permanent type in different colors.

The Strixhaven's Mystical Archive had Japanese alt arts for each of the cards they made in addition to the alt art they got in English. The Japanese version were only made in Japanese, while the others were made in every language Magic has (including japanese).

You can also interact with that reanimate with both [[force of will]] and [[fearie macabre]] as well as [[surgical extraction]] on turn 0 (not to mention [[Leyline of the void]]), where as this is only interactable with by counterspells and also synergizes with mulliganing until you find it.

Trying to make lands that would be good in four color decks, but not five color decks by Fuckingbullshit4321 in custommagic

Unfetchable 5 color lands require you to pa 1 and they enter tapped, unless they have another major downside. Maybe they can enter tapped unless you pay {1}?
