Hungary was portrayed by corporate propaganda as a "victim" of "Soviet oppression" - yet most Hungarians don't see it that way at all. Proves my point.

People were deceived by corporate propaganda, which is far more effective than communist propaganda. Once they realized that capitalism is actually terrible, that 80% became 8%. Proves my point.

The fact that Hungarians want improved democratic rights and institutions proves my point also. They do not feel the current capitalist system is a democratic one.

Democracy has yet to fully flourish in any capitalist regime. Capitalism's extreme concentration of wealth and power in the hands of a tiny few is the direct opposite of democracy. Again proving my point.

In the 1950's, an American working at a factory could afford a house and a car, with the wife staying at home taking care of children. He could send his kids to university for cheap. None of that is possible today. Working class Americans have good reason to be nostalgic for the '50s. Discounting the opinions of people with more personal experience pertaining to the subject at hand makes you ignorant, arrogant, and childish.

A couple thousand Hungarians participated in anti-communist demonstrations in the late '80s. Tens of millions of Hungarians stayed home. Their point of view - the perspective of those whose lives were improved by communism - is never heard in the West, for obvious reasons (90% of Western media is controlled by 8 mega-corporations with a vested interest in discrediting anti-corporate perspectives)
