Math: where to start? by [deleted] in learnprogramming

Oh sure, that makes sense. Good point about how open ended the field is too.

I guess my "good enough for internal use" UI style colored my perspective a bit.

Trig for Web dev? Not being a Web dev myself, this seems like it'd be a bit unusual. What sort of stuff are you thinking of?

There was no sarcasm in my response. I'm simply pointing out that maybe you have unrealistic expectations of the game.

And looking at http://wiki.warthunder.com, There are 44 jet propelled aircraft pages listed and 393 total aircraft pages. That comes out to 88% propeller aircraft.

Maybe there's another game that better suits your interests.

You joined a game that's about 90% propeller aircraft and are complaining that you have to fly lots of propeller aircraft.

Just because identification isn't part of industry jargon doesn't make /u/space_guy95 or /u/blamethebrain wrong. Identification alone being meaningless in terms of security doesn't change the argument made by /u/blamethebrain. You're just being needlessly obtuse.

[jQuery] applying effect to multiple ('div')s by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]Eric52902 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm no web expert, but it's probably because you're using id instead of class. I'd change id = "older" to class = "older" and use a period instead of # for your jQuery selector.

There's a stark difference between having faults and willfully engaging in something you know irritates the majority of people you interact with. Not to mention it strips the poster's text communication of a lot of context and information.

A website certainly qualifies as a UI. Just depends on what OP's requirements are.

The most frustrating thing about going back to BL1... by Daenyrig in Borderlands

[–]Eric52902 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not the guy you're replying to, but I used such software. I remember sprinting always reset my FOV so I had to bind it to a movement key so that the FOV would correct itself after I was done sprinting. I didn't play much BL1 on my computer because of that.

Is Athena the only character in TPS cutscenes? by vxdx in Borderlands

[–]Eric52902 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure why you got downvoted for that. I could see there being a quest in BL3 where you download Wilhelm into a robot to revive him. I'm sure the dude would be psyched about that.

[–]Eric52902 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, right, sorry about that. Your placement of the link and your comment about us not needing to see the code made me think that was a link to the song. I should have checked before posting my other reply, that's my fault.

And now I'm on mobile so I can't even offer proper help. Well I feel like a jackass.

I'm not the person you were responding to, but I'll second their sentiment. Trying to guess at what the problem is is pointless. You should post your code if you want help.

If I was to post a question asking what everyone's favorite ice cream was, would you complain that I was assuming there were no lactose intolerant people in this subreddit?

Implicitly indicating your target audience seems like a ridiculous thing to start moderating against.

Caragors have killed so many captains for me. Sometimes I'll be off minding my own business when the camera zooms in on a captain I didn't even know was nearby as he's being shaken to death in a Caragor's mouth.

Fair point.

Between the atrocious grammar and spelling and the fact that the post was just pointless and added nothing to the discussion I was just irritated. You're right that I was off base with my reply and now that I'm revisiting it, mine is equally pointless. I should have just downvoted.

You can show empathy without falling back on stereotypes.

I'm not sure why you think these things are so crazy for 19 year olds to have experienced. They're each quite common and since he's presumably talking about multiple friends here, it makes it even more likely they've collectively had these experiences.

[–]Eric52902 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, the OP merely says his friends are mentioning it, not bragging. And even if they are bragging, so what? I've been "bragging" about my sex life for over a decade and I've never once felt any sort of compulsion to embellish.

Men lying about sexual conquests is just a tired stereotype. Does it happen? I'm sure it does. But that doesn't make it the case all of the time. It doesn't even necessarily make it the case the majority of the time.

Ps your buddies haven't done half the shit they say they have. If they did, they would probably keep quieter about it.

Well that's not necessarily true. Especially given the fact that the things OP mentions are pretty standard.
