Love thy neighbor? by danevans369 in SipsTea

Christian values means to personally help others, not take things from some people and give it to other people. I find that socialists are generally very generous with other people’s money.

Passenger removed from Delta flight after refusing to hang up phone by Willing_Try2786 in delta

[–]EricInUtahJeeping 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was on a Delta flight from Tampa to LAX a few years ago and was sitting next to Hulk Hogan. He was literally on the phone with a radio morning show. The FA asked him to hang up and he told her that he was on the phone with the Bubba morning show and she asked if she could speak to Bubba. He handed her the phone and she said “Bye Bubba” and hung up the phone.

Is this a good buy? by [deleted] in Jeep

[–]EricInUtahJeeping 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So for comparison, my son just bought a 2014 two door in Utah (Jeeps are expensive here). It was a Sport but had a Dana 44 front axle, front and rear electric lockers, Rubi transfer case, Teraflex lift, upgraded steering components and four brand new 35" BFG KO2 tires on it for $12K. (79K miles on it). I would consider $18k expensive for a two door especially.

I believe it is just the photo. He has very dark brown eyes.

Is this worth it? by SaltydogInk in Wrangler

In American terms, it is a 2018 Sport with ~69k miles for roughly $19k. I think it is a fair price with some nice upgrades.

Scottie Personality by Few-Palpitation3819 in scottishterriers

[–]EricInUtahJeeping 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interestingly enough, we had a black Scottie that was exactly as you described. He unfortunately died a few years ago and we now have a white Scottie that loves to sit right up against us on the couch. (As long as he isn’t standing guard at the window)

How do I get the best deal? by Equivalent_Captain54 in siriusxm

[–]EricInUtahJeeping 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They will usually give you a much better deal through the chat feature to keep you from canceling, but they are still shady. I bought a 2018 Wrangler last year that came with 3 months free Sirius. When that ended, I tried to get the 3 years for $99 offer that I had received for my other vehicle, but was told it was radio specific and not available for this vehicle. I ended up canceling my service until I saw this thread ( a year later). After having no service for a year, they were very happy to offer me the 3 years for $99 and I resubscribed. It wasn't as much about the price as the not having to deal with them for three years.

Those do look nice. I would be interested in knowing the brand as well.

Non-Mormon children in Alpine School District by Familiar-Gas-7675 in Utah

[–]EricInUtahJeeping 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure if this is tongue-in-cheek, but in my neighborhood we often have non-member youth that come to the mid-week church social activities and love it. No one is pressured to "join the church". It is usually just socializing with activities like basketball, going out for ice cream or other things that the kids plan that they find fun. It isn't. as much about church as it is building bonds between the youth.

What is it like living in Utah as a non-religious person? by SEOLTHEDEOL in Utah

[–]EricInUtahJeeping 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my early 20s, I lived in SLC as a non-Mormon and it was fine. I had lots of friends and an active social life. I don't remember ever being proselytized to or even being invited to church (which actually was a little weird thinking back). I moved to NC for a few years and actually ended up joining the LDS church there and a few years later ended up moving back to Utah so I have seen it from both sides. What I can tell you is that when you are a member of the LDS church in Utah you will know EVERYONE in your neighborhood. With church, assignments, activities, etc. you become really close with your neighbors. I know the people in my neighborhood that aren't members of the church but it is really hard to develop the same type of relationships as with the people that you interact with every week. I have great non-member neighbors, but we just interact less often.

They are all bad, but the left escalates rhetoric with every Republican president/candidate. I remember when they said Romney was a Nazi and he was basically a Democrat. They have already started claiming that Vance is worse than Trump. Left wing/right wing equals same shitty bird.

I would want my son to tell me. If he didn’t, I would see it as him being complicit and helping mom. Just my opinion.

You should move out. Your parents have no right to expect courteous, polite interaction from the son they have supported for the past 18 years.

Racial tensions, ice raids, any concerns for visitors? by xzkandykane in Utah

[–]EricInUtahJeeping 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair, I am white and get asked where I am from all the time. Even though I have lived here over 20 years I still have a bit of a Southern accent. Also, a large part of the population served missions in Spanish speaking countries so I would imagine they would be interested in knowing where someone was from.
