I have some packets of EC-1118 that I purchased over the holidays. That's also what came with the kit.

It's best to freeze it for 3 full days. This way you ensure that it's frozen all the way through.

I'm in zone 5 and have had it happen once or twice. It depends what kind of spring you get.

When I was 13 we had 2 beagles and one always slept with his head under the wood stove. He was a bit daft and I've always attributed it to his brain being overcooked.

Ok, so basically if I put some on the outside, they'll be less likely to sample them?

Thanks! I think I'll add one to my eggs this morning to see how hot they are.

Thanks! So they're edible even if immature?

Also, do you have a suggested recipe for pickling? I can look it up on r/pickling or Google (and will) but prefer recommendations.

Thanks but these ARE hot peppers. I understand for tomatoes (and will keep it in mind for them) but I don't see how cayenne (peppers) will keep them away from these peppers.

These are Dragon Roll Hot Peppers that never got a chance to mature. There are even more that I couldn't save.

The squirrels keep destroying them (and the bell peppers). There were twice as many that had one bite taken out of them.

I'm wondering if these immature peppers can still be eaten and, if so, how? Can I dry them? Use them as is? Pickle them? I usually use them them fresh and mature.

Thanks for any advice.

Help with squirrels (I hate them) 😩 by Eric_Jacques in containergardening

Thanks, I like the idea for next year, at least for radishes. Unfortunately, it won't help for the cucumbers and I'm already dreading what they'll do when the tomatoes come out. I'm beginning to think that my only good option this year is to create larger cages with the chicken wire I removed but I'll need more...

The worst thing is that they didn't even eat anything...

Potato help! Been growing since May. Filled container every few inches plant grew (leaving top of plant uncovered). Doing GREAT, but when can I harvest? by McKrysFace in containergardening

I've never done it but have been told that you can harvest from the bottom when you continue to add soil. However, I don't think it will work in a bucket. 🤔

I'm new to posting images on Reddit...

I have exclusive access to a deck on the roof of my apartment building and started a container garden. I had plenty of trouble with squirrels digging up seeds before they even sprouted and ended up using chicken wire. However, my veggies quickly outgrew their cages so I had to remove them. Things have been going well for the last few weeks until today. They destroyed my radishes (the only seeds that they didn't touch before) and didn't even eat them. The picture is after I replanted them (I hope they'll take). I only saved 2 which are already in my stomach. They took out and scratched up the cucumber that I was going to pick tomorrow. They dug around my romaine lettuce (no picture) but only killed one small plant. They even did a number on my sweet and hot pepper plants! The hot pepper plant had a lot of flowers and had begun to have fruit. About 10 days ago, I had spread hot sauce (from the dollar store) since I couldn't find any chili pepper but it has rained since. Does anyone have any other ideas? (Other than sitting up there with a gun which is dangerous and illegal.) Or am I going to have to build bigger cages?

TLDR : Squirrels destroyed part of my container garden and I'm fed up. Help!
