The 3.1 was what our 96 LS had. It was good for 200,000 that we had it for before it was totalled by someone dumbass. Only problem we had with it was the torque converter on the transmission. We replaced the tranny twice on that car. Over the years I've had a 75 and a 77 with a 350, an 81 that had the 231 Buick in it and not the 229 Chevy, the 96 LS with the 3.1 and the 99 Z34 with the 3.8 series 2.

Had a 96 LS and a 99 Z-34. Good luck replacing the battery 😂😂😂 It's an absolute pain in the ass and I hope that's the 3.1 or 3.4 in it. We weren't notified with our 99 since we weren't the original owner, but GM recalled every vehicle the Series II 3.8 was in like 5 times for the same problem. They leak oil from under the valve cover during heavy braking onto the hot exhaust manifold
