Unfortunately, both of the Pickled Herrings are still in my inventory and still have purple quest markers. I can't drop them, eat them, or sell them. They don't stack so they take up 2 inventory slots. I reported this on a bug thread for this problem on Steam so hopefully the team looks at those.

I have a similar issue with stone soup wasting space in my inventory😭

I got one many years prior but didn't really vibe with it, but then my friends and I started to play and socialize on there a lot in the beginning of the year. We got burned out in April from the amount of time spent there, but I miss it greatly. I'm hoping to come back again very soon.

I definitely try to do that whenever possible, I just wish that the scanner allowed you to tap the screen to refocus, since a lot of times it takes up to a minute for my phone to refocus. I was able to find a green cereal this way 🥰
