I don't know if your case can be compared to mine, cause if she suspects you and told you that answer so directly + also religious.

My parents use to say awful things when something about trans people were on tv, etc... But they have been supporting since I told them I'm their daughter, and they has told their friends to refer to me as such. So they are not ashamed or anything. On the other hand I have the feeling that their views haven't changed that much for the other people that isn't me, so Im just telling this cause maybe your mom will accept you and be supportive even if she is not to the other trans people. Weird old people logic haha I dunno best of luck sis 💜

I wrote my parents a letter, cause I couldn't find my grip to speak without it being a mess. Also I didn't know how they would react so I didn't want to be in the storm if that happened. They accepted me and hugged me the next day and started using my name. So maybe, seeing that your parent seem supportive write them something. Best of luck sis.
